Spurs turn down loan approach?

Spurs turn down loan approach?

The Daily Mail is reporting that Spurs have turned down an approach made by Pompey to take some players from them on loan.

The report did not say which players were involved but has said they were 'a defender and a midfielder', Redknapp is quoted as saying: 'I'm nowhere near getting anyone at the moment. I can't say I've got anybody lined up.

'I've tried clubs like Tottenham, who have lots of players, but they don't want to loan you players or help out like they used to.

'Maybe they see us as competition now. Two years back, Spurs let me sign Pedro Mendes, Sean Davis and Noe Pamarot but now, maybe, they see us as a side who are aiming for a UEFA Cup place just like they are'.

If true I do not really know who the players could be, and as such would not like to speculate at all...

Both Franck Songo'o and Marc Wilson, who both recently returned from loan spells could come into the 1st team picture - if for no other reason than the fact that they might be needed to make up the numbers. To be honest I would quite like to see Songo'o given a chance anyway.

Both played, along with new signing Danijel Subotic in the reserves yesterday in a hard earned Pompey draw with Chelsea.

we are a threat to teams like spurs so i can fully understand them not wanting to help us out - had we approached with a veiw to buy that might have been different...

Why would we loan you a defender when most of them are injured and have you seen them defend?

thats a good point mate - the defending has been a bit 'suspect' this season from spurs, and like you say youve got injury problems... i know callum davenport is someone that 'arry rates, but he doesnt play for spurs anymore does he?

Why did we want Paul Robinson on loan anyway?

I don't get why he sounds so bitter about it... it should be a compliment... and selling players like mendes, davies and Pamaroe to you wasn't to help you out, it was for money.. simple as that. what do we get out of strengthening your team with loans?? harry's supposed to be the premier leagues wealer dealer - he should understand business!

we wanted defenders on loan? be reasnable - that is the one area that DOESNT need streghtening at the moment - and spurs are hardly the right club to go for to get it! more likely they were turned down to get defoe on loan, and are trying to cover up the fact they tried (put off other investers?)

yeah i believe we would have asked for defoe on load, with a view to a permanent deal, as he has been told he can leave spurs... and im not sure it its just me but can pompey now approach deofe about a permanent move in the summer for free now, as he has less than 6 months left of contract?

i think defoe still has 18 months left on his contract doesnt he? there is no way spurs would loan him out even if we've promised to buy him in the summer - if he leaves it will have to be permanently and now... but we cant afford him can we...

nope...so we will have to stick to larson...you know, when i readpompey had signed a striker, i thought larson was the only posibilty. then i red "swedish striker", and i just thought "oh my, what a coup"...then i read some name i had never heard of, and his age...i thought "wow, he has a young agent"...then i read u19 international...my heart sank....

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
