'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Redknapp rules out Taylor move?

Harry Redknapp has once again 'bemoaned' the size of the squad that he has at his disposal, but this is not something I am going to go into as to put it bluntly this is nobody else's fault but his - he signs the African footballers knowing full well he would lose them...

The thing that had caught most people's eye would have been his telling sky sports that Matty Taylor will be going nowhere unless he makes some signings in midfield - an area that he claims is particularly light, and signing some midfielders is something which he also claims he is nowhere near doing: 'it is alright Matty saying he wants to go and play somewhere.

'But unless I get replacements, he is not going anywhere. He is one of my 14 and I need him'.

To be honest I cannot see how this is going to help an already 'fragile' relationship between the two, as accepting bids - and then leaving him out of the squad yesterday - is a clear indication that we are more than prepared to let him go, but then not letting him talk to these clubs will anger him even more, more so if he still does not play a part in the weeks ahead.

I worry about this situation fellas and even though we will be short of numbers we either have to decide now that he stays or he goes, it is not fair on him, his family or the clubs interested in him. He just wants to play football, if it cannot be here then he must be allowed to go.

It is make or break time, we either make it clear he is wanted - but having accepted bids it seems crystal to me what the situation is! - or we let him go, its only fair...

the good news from today, was that aparantly wewere going to get 5 million for him. the better news is that hes not leaving yet!!! this is great news, as if matty can play well in the side for a while, harry cant drop him!!!
He should move if he wants games. If he's happy losing his place to Kranjcar, then fine by me.
or maybe kranjca on the right, taylor on the left. we have been wanting to see it for a long time - but it hasnt happened...
Taylor on form is a weapon, if he can find his ammo for a while I'll take that
kranjcar is right footed, he should play on the right instead of cutting in all the time. this is mattys time to shine!
This is Harry saying we need Taylor to bump up his worth to the other teams. Call me cynical but that's how I see it.
you're probably right mate... we are clearly happy to let him leave arent we, bids accepting proves this - there is no way back this time...
why accept bids when u know u cant let him leave? it makes no sense harry! ur losing ur mind! (but we love u)
Stillthewhizz; I think you are spot on. Taylor to Sunderland this week for 3.5m. Watch this space
...i saw taylot to bolton for 5 million...i think I (and he) would prefer that...
daily mail says taylor needs to decide between bolton and sunderland.
daily mail says campbell to spurs...they know about as much as what we know!
I'm sure there was a reason Taylor and Hughes were left out of the squad on Saturday - both are moving on and he didn't want them cup-tied.
Daily mail knows nothing as with all the press, Taylor needs to decide on whether he is prepared to stay at Pompey rather that anyone else first and foremost. As always tho with arry, if you are out of favour then thats you stuffed. Everybody I talk to keep saying, now Utaka's gone (and no real loss on the last few performnces), lets stick Niko on the right and Matty on the left with Pedro and Davis in the middle and Benji and Nugget up front.
jbaker you are 100% correct, I cannot stand right footed players on the left, therefore cutting in all the time. Put Kranjcar on the right and suddenly see Fratton Park become twice the width.
i dont like the fact that 'arry has come our and said 'matty taylor wants to leave'... yes 'arry the fella wants to leave because you wont play him mate - as someone else said when you fall out of favour with 'arry you are stuffed... tbh i could understand why matty was out of the side if utaka had been playing well, but he hasnt... but lets be honest, as soon as he returns even if matty does get into the side now he will be out of it again then regardless wont he?
As soon as the African boys come back Taylor will lose his place. It doesn't matter if he plays out of his skin - it's what's happened this/last year. If he wants first team football Matt has to go.
matt will go - but at the end of januarry, when harry has a replacement lned up, or already in. we cant let him leave now - we would have no-one left. same for hughes - although he is more likely to stay.
apparently reading have just had a 3 mil bid for taylor accepted
bids flooding in - 3 million simply isnt enough for him though - reading, if he has to go, is the place i would LIKE to see him go to...
There is a lot of talk about sticking Nico on the right. Problem is he does not have the pace to go outside the full back and cutting inside puts him on his weaker foot and unable to hit penetrating passes which he can do from the left flank. But play the two (Nico and Matty) and swap them round from time to time could work.
Good point eastneydave that Kranjcar has not got the pace to go around the outside. Utaka has, but thats not working either.
kranjcar does have the skills to go round the full bac though, and GJ can open up a little space with a run past the full back, dragging him away, so that wouldnt be too much of a problem though, would it?
Let's face it fellas. The Niko & matty thing ain't gonna happen (it would have by now if it was going to). Harry and Matty don't get on. Pompey have ACCEPTD bids. The bidding teams are not gona wait forever. Taylor wants first team football. He ain't gettin it at Fratton. He's off.... Five weeks ago I told you it was a done deal 3.5 million to Reading... are you now going to believe me now.. I'm gonna rub it in when it's published... Harry's playing games to bump up the price... the price that has fallen since he's decided not to play him !!
ive never doubted you being right that he would go - but it being to reading isnt assured yet is it... we'll see :-)
we kept switching matty and niko around against man city (i think it was city) and they couldnt find rhythm, but if they stick to one flank they should work well, and as the ipswich fan said, we create so much space, so niko should be able to float some nice balls in towards nuge and benji
