A Tractor Boys point of view

A Tractor Boys point of view

What made you support Ipswich mate?
I caught the bug - I went with my local team when I was a kid and I think we won something like 5 or 6 nil an loved it. Despite all of our failures (dreaded play-offs!) I still consider us as a sleeping giant that will wake soon - I hope!

Jim 'scummer' Magilton seems to be doing a fantastic job with you lot, is that how thing are portrayed at your end?
Many people slated his predecessor, Big Fat Joe (Royle) with his hoof-ball tactics that nearly got us back where we belong on a shoestring budget while having to sell our best youngsters to keep the club afloat. Magic has turned it around and now we play attractive passing football that has turned Portman Road into a fortress.

He didn't have the best of starts and soon found ourselves bottom but since brought in players like Jon Walters from Chester after playing them in the FA Cup last year and he has been our best player with a lot of Premiership clubs sniffing.

On the other hand, people want him out because of our dreadful away form, which has seen us pick up only two wins throughout 2007. Absolutely ludicrous if you ask me! He will turn it around.

How do you rate how your season is going - can he get you back into the top flight?
Jekyll and Hyde - I think our fans could be forgiven for thinking we have been watching two different teams. Unbeatable in nearly twenty home games but haven't won away in eighteen. We are sniffing around the play-offs because of our home form and if we can get a couple wins away from the fortress then I see no reason why we can't get to those dreaded play-offs.

What about Pompey, have you seen much of us this season - if so how well do think we can do?
Yeah I always watch you on MOTD and I am impressed with what Harry has achieved there in both spells. Got you promoted which was a good achievement but in this spell, he has brought in the right players and they could come close to breaking the top four next season if you carry on heading in the right direction. And that is with the Herminator in your side! We used to love him at PR, but we are unfortunately one of the number of clubs he got relegated with!

Who is the Ipswich danger man that Pompey should watch?
Oooh, a toughie. Jon Walters or Pablo Counago. Walters (according to the Actim Index thing) is the best player in the Championship and is always creating goals for other players as well as himself (he is on nine for the season). On the other hand, Pablo is one of those players you don't quite know how to deal with and scores all types of goals - did you see that back heel goal in the style of Thierry Henry against Charlton a month ago!? Super Jim has played a masterstroke in bringing him back.

If you could take any Pompey player from our squad and put him in yours, who would it be and why?
Can't I take nine?

Well we need someone on the left - Matt Taylor or Niko Kranjcar would do very nicely.

Last year I would have laughed myself to death if I had considered Benjani, but he has been fantastic for you this season from what I have seen, so I wouldn't mind him.

Your home form is fantastic this season, but your away form is not that great. We have a similar problem whereas we cannot win at home - we do not lose that often though - but we cannot stop winning away? What is the secret to the home success?
A bit of luck? Being consistent in team selection?

To be honest I haven't a clue but I don't think ours is down to our fans in some of the games because despite being a fortress, our atmosphere is non-existent at times.

Are Pompey are side you would have wanted to draw in the cup given a choice, or does it not matter to you who you played?
I think some of our fans wanted an away trip to a Premiership club, but I am happy enough with Pompey. After all, we will be getting to go to Premiership grounds on a regular basis next year!

Go on - who is going to win and carry on the quest for FA cup glory, Ipswich or Pompey?
I think it depends on what Pompey side plays. I presume they will rest their African players, but still, Dave Nugent always scores against us! However, I could see us winning it. If not, I could certainly see us head to Fratton Park in a few weeks time!

if you look at the stats, its the best home side in the championship against the best away side in the premiership...should be intresting! (although i hope its a comftable win...for us). i have a feeling we will scrape a win - which would be awful for ipswich (lose there unbeaten home run) and ok for us - but loosing is a real possibility if we take it too lightly!

i would just take a nugent start tbh... this could either end up as a 0-0 stalemate as the records of each come crashing down or we could be in for a cracker... i reckon it'll be the latter, but we will have enough to get through.

One goal will be enough and Muntari will make sure it's Pomey's name in the hat for the next round

Yes, had my fair share of visits to Portman Road. I remember a pointless midweek game about 1991. Me & my mate Dave(as seen on MOTD2) left it to the last minute to go. Drove up from Pompey & made it. We drew 2-2, great game. We went the following year with team that had the great cup run. We got stuffed 5-2.

God! that was like reading a response from a Pompey fan in reverse 'we have two differnt teams that turn up' 'we can't undertand the difference between out home and away form.... also did you read 'Nugent always scores against us!' chances of him strating..... Nil probably ... Good questions and fair responses once again. Well done fellas

I doubt he will start, but he would do a good job, giv him a chance I say, but in all fairness, we should be beating ipswich, who in truth arent prem quality, and looking at head to head, we should blow them out the water, but if they play with more passion and desire, then anythign could happen.

Tubbs has left the building

Tubbs has finally left Pompey; perhaps his destination is something of a surprise then again there had been some 'rumours' recently of an Eastleigh interest.

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.
