No new faces, but old ones stay

No new faces, but old ones stay

Harry Redknapp has said that no new faces will be arriving before the FA cup game with Ipswich this weekend but 4 familiar faces will still be here...

Redknapp again stressed that he 'will not' have money to spend and will be 'patching up his side with loan or free transfer signings' but no one will arrive before we go to Ipswich on Saturday. He says that he does have some names in mind though.

However our African quartet of Sulley Muntari, Papa Bouba Diop, John Utaka and Kanu will all be available for this game as we have refused their respective countries permission for them to leave early for training camps - they will be heading off next week though.

To be honest, as much as I do want to the win the cup game - along with the cup itself - I would prefer it if they were not available in a way, as we would then have to use several of the players that you would expect us to during the African players absence anyway.

I only hope that none of the mentioned quartet suffer a convenient injury which would rule out the African visit!!!.

well if they did then it would rule them out for us too - so there would be no benefit would there... we want to win the cup tie, but i also want to see some of those that will have to step in anyway play their part at the weekend.

Rug, understand your point of view, but a small injury not lasting one month would be benificial!!

Letthem go early! given the vague play of Utaka and Muntari, the "massive tiredness" confirmed by the lack of mobility of Kanu where is the loss, i agree with Rug, let them go, it is where they want to be and we get to put out an 11 man team for this game, something we havent really done since the 1st week of december

I,ve said before, I'm quite sure Muntari & Diop have 4 bookings each. If they get booked against Ipswich, they will serve the suspensions whilst in Africa. If not, they come back, get booked & then will be suspended. Get them booked, take them off & play those who will here. Kanu can stay in Africa & Utaka need a Leopard up his backside.

So let's see what bertie Vogts is made of then.. as Carpet has pointed out they were told that they would be dropped it they didn't attend... On this basis it means that they are either really *****ed off that Harry has kept them back thus ruining their chances or not that bothered about the tournement anyway... Seems a bit of an odd situation to .. I can't understand why harry just doesn't let them go and have done with it.. all this mucking about must be unsettling for the players concerned and the rest of the squad..

yep, lets them go - we have to do without them anyway, so why not start from this weekend and give others that deserve a chance this chance... starting with dave bloody nugent, either play the fella or let him go its that simple!
