'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Happy New Year fellas!

We have just about waved goodbye to 2007, it has had a few 'blips' along the way, particularly towards the end, but on the whole can anyone honestly say that they have been disappointed with it - Pompey wise that is? I know that I cannot say that I have been to be honest.

2008 is now virtually here, we start off by going to Reading tomorrow looking to kick-start the New Year in the right way, that way being a performance worthy of one that we want to see and hopefully all 3 points to get us back on track - do not forget that you can keep up to date and share your thoughts on the game with Reading right here! Shortly before kick off when the teams have been announced they will be published here, then those of us not fortunate enough to make the game - if we are feeling in a fit enough state - can share your comments in the section below as the game goes on.

As I finish I will say this, remember those near and dear to you, or even those that fall into that bracket that are no longer here. I would also like to say a few words on Phil O'Donnell who tragically died the other day while playing for Motherwell, it was a tragic loss and my thoughts are with his family now. Also think of those less fortunate than yourself and also think of others as well as just yourself - if we all do our bit we can make the world a better place in the New Year and beyond.

I am not trying to put a dampener on things, but this evening is often a night for reflection not just an excuse to get 'beered up'.

Those are my words of wisdom out of the way, so all that is left is for me to wish all of you - along with your families and friends - and members of Vital Pompey new and old, as well as everyone else on Vital Football full stop all the best for the New Year, lets hope it is good for us all eh fellas.

Now go have a drink or two, or three, or four...

Happy 2008 to all at VP - 2007 has been a great year let's hope 2008 is better. Should surface before kick off tomorrow I hope so see you at 3.
Also great to pay tribute to Phil O'Donnell a man who gave much to Scottish football in general and Motherwell in particular. Having heard the sad news on Saturday made be forget about the Boro game.
Landlord; I echo each and every one of those sentiments. Thanks to everyone for making my last couple of months on here thoroughly enjoyable; I hope to catch up with you all in 2008. Vital Pompey is simply the best.
HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE, lets not start with a whimper as we finished this year
yep phil o'donnell signed many items for me over the years and was a gentleman, a top man and also a top, top footballer who somehow only won 1 scotland cap... yep, like you dave this was another thing that made me soon forget about the boro game.
have a great night fellas - or in many people's cases i hope you had a great night - whatever you do. all the best for the new year, lets hope it start by bringing us 3pts tomorrow... remember to be here anytime after 2, 2.30ish onwards tomorrow so we can talk as the game goes on after its kick off at 3 - we should all be concious by then?
Hapy New year to all my mates here on Vital Pompey! From me and my family, they say thanks cos i can take out my frustrations on this laptop instead of on them!!!
Have a great New Year everyone, still an early start to get to Reading, hope the New Year starts with a bang for us. I agree with the sentiments in regard to Phil O'Donnell, i posted a message on the Motherwell website and i heard that one of the Clan Pompey lads was taking a shirt with messages from the Pompey Fans up there.. God bless everyone and i hope all your dreams come true.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Looking forward to beating you soon. :))
Blue is the colour
To all of you, have a happy & healthy 2008. Play Up Pompey.
All the best pompeys from the Wigan Latics...have a good 2008
Happy New Years folks - all the best for 2008! The Addicks will be joining you in the top flight soon :)
Pardew is Sexy
A very happy new year to all of you, may you all have a happy and successful 2008
Nice touch re the Phil O'Donell bit Rug - Happy New Year to Everybody at Vital Pompey - It's a great site and I hope Vital & Pompey go from strength to strength in 2008 - Play Up Pompey
yep happy new year to everyone above - and more... i like to think that vital pompey is mirroring what pompey are doing on the pitch, it like them has its odd stutter but 2008 will be the year for both - but for this will all need to pull in the right direction to make it happen - that applies to backing the players and coaching staff too, sure we give it all that when deserving but not just 'for the sake of it'... and jeez Chix have you been up all night making comments, 250plus points already...
I thought that was a miss print Rug........he has no fingers left just stumps ;-)
i had to do several double takes... its like almost a third of the whole of the pts he got last month in less than 11 hours, well probably less than that as i would doubt the scores were re-set dead on midnight - that is some impressive posting chix... god only knows what the forum is gonna look like when i have a look - it could well have become vital chix :-)
I think he's actually fallen asleep head first onto his laptop, with his nose on the enter button
Chix has been superglued to the keyboard!
fellas, abit random i know but im out of ideas, so if anyone has any poll ideas can they send some through to me via the poll suggestion link - or just click here...
ive got a nice little article about our previous 8 games (and how we did relative to what we predcted) that should be out AFTER the reading game - so another poll of how many points will we pick up over the next 6 games might be good...
abd back on topic, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I think we may need to review Chix's status as the Count after his activity over night!!
if you send them they will be used... penton and dave have put forward ideas, get yours sent through carpet and it too will be used - as will your article idea... yep, agree dave i think he has well and truely cemented his status as 'the count'
Nothing untoward about the 250+ points fellas it's just that two little girls decided to wake up very early (5ish) this morning and then promptly went back to sleep leaving Daddy with nothing to do at about 6am (I only went to bed at 3 myself !).. So I sat at the laptop with a steaming hot coffee and a packet of Alka Seltzer and single handedly wish every club on Vital a Happy New Year ... I'll tell you about my findings and a few ideas I've had later but thought I better clear up the fact that my fingers are not actually attached to the keyboard and I dont (yet) have stumps... but if Pompey play badly this afternoon and I go into rant mode .. it might just happen !!
Oh Rug - I'll send you a P if you don't see this but I jumped on at about 9 O'clock last night and did a scrape of the leaderboards (couldn't resist it) I'll bash out the results sometime today or tomorrow and send onto you as an article...
i look forward to hearing about these ideas mate, and how we might be able to impliment them.
rug - ive already written the artice (just need to fill in the reading score) but the poll would have to be based on the 6 games AFTER i wont submit it untill then...ive done an article+poll every 6 games, but was a little late with the most recent one, as i was out of the county...luckily someone did a prediction for 4 games (slightly overlapping) - so i have just put them together...but will be finished AFTER we have beaten reading
see how amazingly well vital pompey is predicting we will be 8th...
I looked at the Members league last night and our Top 10 were all in the Premier League top 50. Incredible success!!
Seasons greetings from all of us at Vital Blackburn. Wishing you all a safe and happy year
