Nugent out Lita in - swap deal?

It appears as though Harry Redknapp's dealings this January will be limited to loans and swap deal and the latest 'rumour' in the offering is one involving Dave Nugent and Leroy Lita.

A deal that would see the strikers switch clubs?

I sincerely hope that Nugent stays with Pompey but for whatever reason - is it that Redknapp is saving him for another time or is it that he simply does not rate him afterall and does not want him - he cannot seem to get a game no matter what.

Lita is a striker that I would welcome to here and his days with Reading do seem numbered as he has dramatically fallen from grace with them. His attitude worries me slightly though, but his ability on the field cannot be questioned.

Nugent and Lita had a fine partnership at U21 level with England, so if we could find a way of having them both here then I think that this could be a fantastic long term pairing.

I do not know what will happen, like I say ideally I would like both here and hope that a swap deal does not have to take place as I desperately want Nugent to stay with us, not because I want him to prove a success here, but because I am convinced that he will be successful and letting him go will be a big mistake...

I can see us getting Lita, but not at the expense of the nugget. He looked good when he came on against 'boro and I hope he gets the chance of a full 90 mins

would love to see lita, would hate to loose nuggent. I am intrested that you say his dealings will all be "on the cheap" - where has this come from?
pompeycarpet
i would love sasha to dip into his pocket again but im not so sure he will spend too much this coming month mate... money that is spent will basically have to be raised i reckon and by doing it that way i would surely only work on a 1 in 1 out basis... so using what we get for players to finance others arrivals or cheap, free or loan signings i feel are going to have to be the way we go...
pompeyrug
I think any money Harry has will be limited to what he can generate, I think we could do with another 3 or 4 signings which for quality would cost around 20M. Not sure Sascha has this sum to commit and this could damage the good early season form.
bluedr
you must have shared your views at almost the same time as me mate - as they are very similar arent they...
pompeyrug
I'm with Tony and Carpet in as much as I think the out of favour Lita could come down to Fratton but I'd hate to loose Nuge and as Rug says if he is to make his mark in the premiership then why not at Pompey and why not as a partner to Lita. Lita scored 31 in 85 for Bristol City and has bagged 18 in 65 for Reading so he hasn't really transferred his form to the premiership but he is/was scoring (more than Nuge has done) He also has 6 in 9 for the under 21's. Forgetting his time at Bury, Nugent scored 33 in 94 for Preston & 4 in 14 for the U21's so their strike rate (away from the premiership) isn't too dis-similar.. I think to have both would be the way to go ... If we can ... as they obviously can play together .. But Lita for Nuge in a swap.... nah I'd rather stick with what we've got.. I thnk ~:)
Chix
Sure did rug, lets hope we can get a couple of quality players in and not just increase the squad with players because they might be available on loan. (Zamora, Cisse)
bluedr
Maybe a Lita for Taylor swap then if we want to keep nuge???
bluedr
i would like to see lita come in, but not nuge out, Matty out, i can see that, but lita isnt the guy i would be hoping for though, Im warming to the idea of bent, doesnt do much, but scores goals, well he did at charlton.
PompeyGleamer
...and goals is what we need! Unfortunatly, i dont want to see matty out...unless a certain other left sided player came in to replace him...
pompeycarpet
having said that, i still consider it very likely that he will leave - which would be a great shame!
pompeycarpet
i think muntari can play on the left, so we have cover, but ye, lita would be good, but like I said, bent, defoe, crouch, those guys are a higher level at the moment.
PompeyGleamer
Resigned to Taylor departing, so Lita can come in and warm the bench with Nugent!!
paultsmouth
Are the press listening to me? Ha ha. I'm up for Lita, definately. The boy has strength, pace and can run with the ball at his feet. Harry go snap that boy up. I think he'd strike a good rapport with Nugent as well, even though they're similar - height-wise.
stillthewhizz
Nugent and Lita would be a pair for the future but we need a proven goal scorer NOW. Please no swap of Nugent for Lita either as Nugent is the better player.
eastneydave
yes, agree with dave. you might want to go on the offical website dave, harry is going on about strikers, on there, under the 'dont panic' article.
PompeyGleamer
I reckon Taylor will go, but i am baffled as to who is coming, it seems to be really quiet doesnt it? Usually we have been linked with a few although my mate has just rung to say that the latest rumours are Tiago Gomes, Fabrice Pancratye and Hedwiges Maduro and he usually has his finger on the pulse.
Owenspompey
I'm still convinced we are going to see a seasoned pro come in and help us out for a short time which will give Harry time to work on Nugent. Somebody like a Andy Cole, teddy Sherringham figure... Kevin Philips perhaps ?? oh and I've still got one eye on Rob Hulse..
Chix
thats the way we conduct things now isnt it owens, which is good, we keep it all professional and hush hush as it should be, we find out the real truth - who is or isnt arriving - when it is a done deal...
pompeyrug
Can't see this one happening. Bite the bullet, play Nugent in January, give him a run. Send Kanu off to africa early.
storagematt
havnt really been linked with anyone for ages...vbut rumours are, Nuggent will get his well earned start today...?
pompeycarpet
I think we have to play Nugent so we can either open or close the book on his success at Pompey. I also want to see Mvuemba because it'd be a waste to loose a young talent like his.
stillthewhizz
cant we just keep taylor???
jbaker
and nugent
jbaker
Kevin Phillips to Pompey, that would really go down well wouldnt it? I would rather gamble on Nugent than Phillips, and somebody mentioned Rob Hulse!! Come on lads we need to think a bit bigger than that, Eanshaw and Fowler will be mentioned or maybe Jimmy Floyd would be interested in a move to Fratton. Buy either Lita, Crouch or Defoe, or if you have to take a punt Marlon King.
