Redknapp aims to make moves fast

Harry Redknapp has told The News how he plans to make moves in the transfer window as soon as he can - ideally as soon as it re-opens for business on Tuesday: 'we've got to get busy now.

'We really need to have people coming in on January 1 if we can.

'Getting them is the most difficult part'.

Spurs and Arsenal are teams that he has sounded out, so it looks as though we will be looking to do business with one, or both of these clubs, in the case of Arsenal without any question purely in loan capacities only.

If he can start getting players in immediately this must be done, the sooner we have players in the sooner they can work their way into our squad and side as well as get to know us - we do not want to be waiting until the African nations comes along and then throw them in.

Speaking of the African nations, he also gave his usual 'we will lose 4 players' and 'I cannot afford to lose players' speeches, but hearing him say that he wants to move as early as he can for players when the sales start is music to my ears - hopefully this can be the case...

as much as I can moan about Harry (although I love him really) the transfer window activiity is where he stands head and shoulders above any other manager in the premiership. This is Harrys no'1 strength he can wheel and deal with the best of them and because he has so much respect in the game other clubs and managers are prepared to do business with him and as has been seem in the past really help him out. I've not idea who may come in and go but this is one area where I think we can rest assured that if anybody can convince a player to play for Pompey - It's our 'arry

I agree we need people and 'Arry is the best at getting them in. Looking forward to seeing Defoe and D'Allessandro!

Well apparently Berbatov wants to leave Spurs for a 'bigger club'!

if the spurs fans are to be beleived, there is no "bigger club" than totenham, so he could be looking for a very long time...either that, or they're wrong, in which case they are probably also wrong about spurs being a bigger club than pompey...in which case he is nailed on to join us ;-)...theo walcott would be a nice addition to our squad, even if he is ex-scummer, although i dont think harry would give many of arsnals youngsters a chance.

the good thing about him being prepared to move quickly though, is that he has already planned his targets, so will not waste time deciding who to go for...that would be an ameteur mistake...

defoe and d'alessandro would be welcome - as much as i have thought defoe could arrive im not so sure now, as for d'allesandro im not so sure the fella will sign now, as said elsewhere i think this might have passed us by...

i would happily have walcott sign on loan for us carpet, former scummer or not, he would inject pace and a goal threat into our side... i feel that 'arry already has a loan or two linned up with arsenal and these could go through before, or after reading tomorrow. i cannot see spurs loaning us any players, they would be looking to sell, but as much as they have some quality players im not sure who they have - that we could sign - that we need, in positions we are lacking i mean.

other than there 4 up front, i cant honestly think of many players i would take from there team! in fact, reading through all your "other teams point of views" articles - it is very hard to think of many players from any team that i would have instead of those that we do already! our defence is one of (if not the) best in the league, muntari and kranjcar are 2 of the best midfielders in the league, davis is one of the best that play in his position, and benjani works is scoks off up front...that doesnt leave many gaps!!!

Take Walcott and stuff him right where the sun dont shine, you cant be serious about him coming to Fratton. Even Arsene and Harry will work that one out, Denilson yes but not that lightweight!!

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
