Pompey target Crouch and Defoe

Pompey target Crouch and Defoe

Another day brings another 'rumour', or in this instance two for the price of one from The Observer... you know its Christmas when these bumper deals come up!

Today the 'reports' are it is to be a double swoop for Pompey in an attempt to try and re-sign Peter Crouch and finally sign Jermaine Defoe when the transfer window opens for business.

Both strikers have been 'linked' for sometime and both are names that I would be happy to see sign - Defoe has been a name that I have been banging on about for ages as one that I feel could sign - if we could get both, which myself I find unlikely why not.

Both do look like they could well move on from their current clubs in the New Year and either could come here - if we could afford them? - but we will just have to wait and see.

The information that I have tells me that Crouch has been viewing properties in Birmingham, so a return to Villa would seem more likely and Defoe is another that I was also told could join him at Villa...

Strange that a paper such as the Observer would make up these stories so maybe there is something in it! Would be a belated Xmas present for all Pompey fans but I do not think we could afford it.

we would be looking at around £15m-£20m for the paid wouldnt we... i doubt we will have that kind of money, even if we sold all the 'squad' players that we are meant to be, but selling 4 or 5 players to buy 1 or 2 isnt on is it and wont be possible... i still think that 1 of these fellas could sign tho - and in all honesty if we want to keep going this season 1 of them has to!

I would love either of those to come to Fratton, I honestly think we should blow it all on a striker as the rest of the squad looks ok, it's goals that are going to give us Eurpoe

yep, goals win games - not conceding also helps, but we are tight at the back really arent we - so agree splash all the cash on a striker, he - or maybe they? - will get us into the promised land and bring even more money to cover the outlay, bring others in on loan if needed, but we wont get the kind of striker that we are wanting and needing in a loan capacity will we... we need to buy this quality as it wont be loaned to us.

I fancy Leroy Lita and Giles Barnes. Two players who from what I can see 'have it' and would be a lot cheaper than either Defoe or Crouch. Harry's ***** up with Nugent will prevent either from joining.

Crouch & Defoe. A case for setting your targets high & low.

Defoe is with Danielle Lloyd now isn't he? Her and Abbey Clancy will be welcome in the South stand

This is old news isn't it? How long have we been linked with these 2? Either would be welcomed, but I think Defoe is too much titchier than the rest of the Pompey squad that Crouch would be a better choice.
