Pompey make one enforced change from last weekends defeat, Noe Pamarot's injury keeps him out - Hermann Hreidarsson got the nod. Injury means Sean Davis misses out again so Pedro Mendes keeps his place in the side. Lauren and Kanu return to the bench, along with keeper Asmir Begovic so we line up like this:

so utaka does keep his place - hopefully he can return to his best and his pace, which might be crucial can be utilised to its full against a liverpool defence that lacks pace...

yep 1 up top doesnt worry me... away from home - you are prob right paul about kanu getting on 1st, i like kanu but i hope not kanu can barely walk let alone run! we'll miss sean davis today i reckon...

liverpool have got a quality side lining up tho havent they... im hoping that utaka justifies his place today by using his pace, if not if he keeps his place again for the arsenal game im not going to be amused - couple of months now of virtually nothing from him!

it looked like he was, but he didnt in the end... there is a long way to go but its gonna be tough for us to get back into this isnt it fellas - i would love to see nuge get on in the 2nd half, but i bet kanu - as paul said - will get on first...

kanu and lauren are on - utaka and johnson are off arent they but ffs it looks like 'arry is sticking with the lone striker with kanu being that and benji on the right....

you cant win 'em all can you, 4-1 was a touch harsh tho wasnt it - but again the better side one... im not going all doom and gloom tho, and if anyone does then they are expecting far, far too much... arsenal next up will be a tough, tough game and we might lose again - but again that would not be the end of the world...

Well I said go 442, I think we did. I predicted 3 goals in the 2nd half, though I meant all of them for us. This is what happens when you let your heart rule your head... you predict bollox. Sorry lads.
On the plus side at least the scummers lost with a late goal.

Matt Taylor and Nugent must be banging their heads against the wall, I think Pompey have been sussed by the bigger sides, our gameplan is falling apart, Utaka gets taken off h/t regular, surely its time for a change?

well i think this was a success even if the result wasnt... utaka needs to be given the ball more, but even so he isnt doing anywhere near enough to justify a place in the side an cannot surely start against arsenal? im staying positive and will not be downbeat by this result, much better sides than us will go to anfield and lose 4-1 - there is no shame in this result, we still have plenty to play for and the season is a long one, arsenal will be mighty tough on boxing day but even if we lose i will not mind so long as we put in the kind of performance that we want to see at home, again if we lose that game too its not 'pompey falling apart time' is it...

Idea seemed to work really well Rug and although I only came in at the end of the second half it was good to read the comments and catch up with a supporters eye view of the game.. definately worth another crack if not a regular feature .. theres always comfort in knowing others are going through the same emotions that you are .. especially when we are losing..

i was more than happy with it an will certainly make this a regular feature - but only for away games tho as home games sees most people going, plus altho i might not get to many this season my season ticket is coming back next year so i'll be 'otherwise engagaed' every other week too! i also really liked Gleamer doing the report and would be delighted if others approached me - as he did - asking if they could do reports for certain games... the beauty of this site is it is about us all, so the more views we can hear in comments and actual article writing/match reporting the better!
