Nuge hopes for a chance this weekend

We are all looking forward to the game with Liverpool this weekend but Dave Nugent is looking forward to it more than others as he has told The News.

The lifelong Everton fan cannot wait to face Liverpool - hopefully he gets this chance, unless he already knows something we don't? - and would love nothing more than to open his account against them: 'Liverpool - I can't wait for that one. It'll be a cup final for me.

'I'm a lifelong Everton fan, so I'd love the chance to score at Anfield.

'Liverpool fans come from all over the world. Everton's fans tend to be drawn more locally - that's why they call it the people's club.

'It would be unbelievable to get off the mark in the league against them. It would be nice to put one over them'.

As I say I really hope that Nugent gets this chance as he has really impressed in the last couple of games he has played as a sub, so he must be getting closer and closer to actually getting that chance again...

Once again he also stressed that he is happy with Pompey and feels things are going okay for him: 'I've started two games in the league and haven't scored. Apart from that it's been coming on as sub.

'I'm sure when I get a few more chances a Premier League goal will come. But I'm happy enough with how things are going at the moment'.

The more I hear from the fella the more I am liking his attitude, it would be great if he can at least get some playing time against Liverpool, even if it is unlikely that he will be given a start. A goal would be special for him personally as well as us - did Liverpool not also release him as a kid?

I really hope he gets his chance and the sooner the better, he has been putting in the workload so he should be rewarded for it, and also everytime he has been featured recently he has looked good (against Man City and Spurs) so I hope harry sees that

He won't get off the mark if he doesn't get a proper chance! I would love it if he scores on Saturday.

If he plays is one thing, scoring would be an even bigger 'if'. I hope he does both but I have my doubts. HR willl play 4-6-0 & go for the draw. LOL.

Fellas, I agree with all that you say. But the hard fact is that Harry paid a lot of money for Nugent and has not played him, and none of us have any idea why. Do not forget that Harry is quoted more than most and singles out players for personal comment on a regular basis, but not Nugent. The mystery will unfold one day.

4-6-0 good one storage, that is so much the truth. For some reason HR seems to go all defensive and negative against the top 4, well certainly to us punters, although I have now idea what he says to the team

I agree paultsmouth. he's looking v.lacking in ideas. A rest could do him good. nuge must be tugging at the leash, give him a go, can't do any harm

Typical bitter blue! I cant stand people like him, making out that Everton have got more local fans than Liverpool, that is a load of my a r s e! I hope 'arry doesnt give him the satisfaction but I wont be bothered if he does play coz he's hardly a big threat, I'd be more worried about Kanu or Benj.

i think he is almost breaking this leash isnt it mate - i reckon he is worth a start sooner rather than later... tbh JonLFC i dont really know the ins and outs of how support goes up your way, so i cannot really comment on nuge's thoughts on that score but hopefully your 'I wont be bothered if he does play coz he's hardly a big threat' will be a kiss of death and famous last words :-)

Oops, I shouldnt have said that! :) Anyway, he makes out there like people fly in from all over the world every week to fill our stadium, he's just a typical bitter blue mate. It must've hurt him that the team he loves so much werent interested in buying him! What happens when you's play Everton? Will he score some OG's? Seriously though, I think if you dont play him you'll be a bigger threat, I admit I've only seen him on MOTD but didn't think much of him really. Send him back to Preston!

fair enough... he has been very impressive the last couple of games he has played and deserves a chance, he is going to be a top class footballer, of that i have no doubt - i just wish 'arry would give him a go now.

Yeah he is talented, it's rare that a striker can come into the prem and make an instant impact, he's only young. I hadn't given it much thought before but I'll be gutted if he opens his prem account against us!
