Pompey line up new Davis deal

Skysports.com are reporting that we could be preparing to offer Sean Davis a new long-term contract.

The fella has been fantastic this season, but even so he did have some people knocking him earlier in the season, which although to be honest he might not have been my favourite player - I did not have the issues with him that some did though - I could not quite understand this?

As I say he has been fantastic and has proved instrumental in our side and has been missed greatly when he has missed out.

Clubs reportedly wanted him in the summer - and again at that time I will admit he was a player that I would have let go, but I am now more than pleased that he stayed - so in case they come back again despite having 18 months left on his current deal we could be looking at offering him an extension - not that contracts mean anything these days, they just give you slightly more bargaining power if others come in for players.

If he is happy to stay, which I cannot see why not lets get him tied down for as long as we can.

Top move. top player, the bloke shores the midfield up

Do you think the new England manager should look at him?
Et_tu_Pompeii
The new England manager should look at every English player playing regularly in the Premier League before he forms his first squad for the Switzerland game. He has six months before the qualifiers start for the 2010 World Cup and in that time he needs to make his own decision not simply inherit Spineless's team. Davis would I think be in the 40 top players in that case, as would Jamo, Sol, Johnson and Taylor. We do not have quantity in our English players but we do have quality.

he likes the holding midfielder doesnt he - so you never know... as dave says tho capello should look at everyone and anyone while he can...
pompeyrug
Capello will be looking for a gatusso to anchor the midfield, davis would fit in there well, hopefully he will get a look

I'm thrilled for davis, I have at least always been one of his champions. We look much more solid when he's in the holding position. England could do worse than at least call him up for the squad, to get him accoustomed to the enviorment

Congrats to Sean, he looked like he was out on his ear before the season but he turned it round with some consistent if unpretty performances.

Sean Davis has been a different player since his 'joke' partner GON has left the club.... It's odd that the one of the 'three amigos' (GON, Taylor & Davis) we'd have all wanted gone is the one that is flourishing... Good on you mate..

There's been a few surprises this season and Sean Davies is one of them - I for one missed noticing how good he was last season, I think his new role has been good for him.
tracyc
completely agree tracy - he has been like a new signing hasn't he.
pompeyrug
As long as his form carries on after the contract has been signed.
storagematt
yep, that is exactly what we would want and i reckon we will get this either way.
