'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Yep, Muntari could leave... one day!

Sulley Muntari makes, or allegedly makes some 'quotes' in The Independent then all of a sudden he 'wants to leave' Pompey, as this has been all the talk for the past couple of days.

This is what he is said to have come out with: 'I want to end up at one of the biggest clubs.

'I will try my best here, but eventually I would like to play for a bigger club'.

I think the key word to pick up on is 'eventually'...

Muntari is a quality footballer, so it is understandable that his ambition would lead him to 'one day' want to play at the very top level in this country, but that one day is not today, tomorrow, next month or probably even in the next year or so.

It is funny how he basically said 'he would die for Pompey' just last week, yet the papers seem to have 'conveniently' missed those quotes... if memory serves me right even in those quotes he was talking about his ambition of one day wanting to play at the next level anyway.

As said Muntari is a quality footballer, and has been very good for us, better than some people might lead you to believe, but still no where near as good as the recent hype is suggesting - it seems like his two stunners against Villa seemed to have elevated him to a level that he quite simply in all honesty has not reached.

Clearly I want the fella to stay, and have no doubts that he will but at some point down the line - way, way down the line - he could move on, it is down to us to keep improving, if we do this players will stay, if we do not they will go it is that simple.

Even with all this said though if Liverpool did seriously come in with a 14m offer in January - which will not happen - can anyone honestly say they would not want that hand snapped off...

Yep, 14 mill and the scousers can have him. Especially if they buy him on the 1st of Jan before he heads off to the ANC.
Typical tabloid nonsense.....damn them
I think its all got lost in translation, what he meant to say is that he is more than happy to stay with us as he wants to REMAIN in one of the biggest clubs. I know we haven't got the facilities yet but hey thats only bricks and motar, what we have got is an sole and passion within our fan base
Ooops sorry put an extra an before sole, hit button too early.
Well when the big 4 coming knocking what else happens.
He seems to have gone from 'I'd die for Pompey' to 'I'd like to go to a bigger club' in the space of a few days. I expect it is all paper talk. Seems a bit soon in his career for a club like Liverpool to come in for him. But if they want to give us Crouch and Gerrard in return . . .
These quotes are things he said when he joined us because I remember being a little angered but understanding at his desires. I was just happy for a player of his quality to be joining. I honestly don't think he'd be a huge loss to us yet because I don't think we've seen the best of him.
What about Crouch +7 million for Muntari
Yeah if the deal came up, I think we should rip Benitez's arm off, I reckon (at the moment as he's got more to offer) we would be doing well if we got a straight swap. We could always then play Matty alongside Niko, could prove interesting?
its the papers digging up 'old quotes' or doing what theyu do best, putting a spin on them in such a way that they see fit isnt it... his ambition will want him to play for the best, its understandable - we will just have to make sure we become one of the best :-) the papers want us to think that muntari has gone from 'i'd die for pompey' to 'i would leave if i can' so we turn on him - but we wont, we know what game they are playing!
money talks, if the scousers offer 'stupid money' we should take it, the player and rafa's arm - then sell that on ebay - but this isnt going to happen is it tbh. i dont want to talk about players going, i want to talk about them coming here...
as said elsewhere... fellas i may have bitten a few times but try not to let this muppet get you to bite, people like him have nothing better to do with their time - spurs are notorious not only for the crap they talk but for being wind up merchants, i dont want us to start stooping to their level...
above my previous post a spurs 'fan' had made comment, whilst i can accept - not that i like it - if it is aimed at me, when they start targeting others as this fella did that is when i feel i have to 'delete' comments... but again please dont bite to what is being said if possible...
Tools! hahahahahahahahah 3 sweet points.......................
I am very sorry Tracy. Really I don't think you belong in a car park. Is a little banter not allowed between rival fans anymore? I seem to remember hearing quite a few ill informed commnets by some of your fans prior to the weekends meeting. Its funny, because I don't know wher ethey've all disappeared to........................ oh yeah - back under the rocks that they crwaled out of (but bot you Tracy!) Can I get your number?
im all for 'a little banter' but come on bullers there is banter and some of what has been spouted the past few days - from yourself and others, both sides of the fence in all fairness - is not banter... lets just all act like civilised human beings... spurs won, we have accepted this, the better team won on the day no one has questioned this... spurs are a massive club, but come on lets be honest living off past glorious cannot go on forever - spurs are massively underachieving and to keep using what has been won cannot keep being used for reasons for you to be 'such a force' nowadays can it? im really surprised at how spurs are going this season as i honestly expected you to crack the top 4 this season...
All in all I still feeel we have teh depth in quality to finish top 6. Only a fool would argue to the opposite. I actually don't dislike your lot - I think that you are genuine football fans taht really love your club. I love Harry too. Discussing the woes of the strat of this season aren't even worth it. Comolli has infected our club with Dial Square disease (That was arsenals first name before changing to Royal Woolwich for all you people that know very little). he eas th eguy that ousted Jol and stabbed him in the back and went around buying the likes of Bent when clearly we should have been making bervatov happy and bringing his mest mate to the club who just happens to be one of the best left wingers inthe world. Pile of sh it - lucky though coz my tottenham shares are up 250%. Were in the money, were in the money da dad a d dad adada
se, a civilised chat :-) you are right, it would be foolish to write spurs off and the chances are they will still get into europe but the top 4 was the aim this season wasnt it... surely that has gone already, despite half a season to play?
yes it has mate firmly out the window........ stranger things have happened but I would think that Citeh (after they spend all of that bent politicians money in Jnauary) and Everton would be safer bets than us. You never knwo Berba could start scoring every week again and we could be in th emoney but I would risk any of my hard earned on it and I am of Roman Catholic origin beofre you start!
wouldn't that menat to read. Can I have tracy's number now....... Sprry I really can't help it - I think its the time of the year sitting here in the office wanting to be in the pub!
The problem I have with the double winning team of 71 was that they were in on way more organised or skillful than the Spurs team that achieved the same fate ten years earlier... Oh sorry! I thought I was on vital Spurs ! ............. Muntari ?... papertalk on a bad news bad.
