Yep, Muntari could leave... one day!

Sulley Muntari makes, or allegedly makes some 'quotes' in The Independent then all of a sudden he 'wants to leave' Pompey, as this has been all the talk for the past couple of days.

This is what he is said to have come out with: 'I want to end up at one of the biggest clubs.

'I will try my best here, but eventually I would like to play for a bigger club'.

I think the key word to pick up on is 'eventually'...

Muntari is a quality footballer, so it is understandable that his ambition would lead him to 'one day' want to play at the very top level in this country, but that one day is not today, tomorrow, next month or probably even in the next year or so.

It is funny how he basically said 'he would die for Pompey' just last week, yet the papers seem to have 'conveniently' missed those quotes... if memory serves me right even in those quotes he was talking about his ambition of one day wanting to play at the next level anyway.

As said Muntari is a quality footballer, and has been very good for us, better than some people might lead you to believe, but still no where near as good as the recent hype is suggesting - it seems like his two stunners against Villa seemed to have elevated him to a level that he quite simply in all honesty has not reached.

Clearly I want the fella to stay, and have no doubts that he will but at some point down the line - way, way down the line - he could move on, it is down to us to keep improving, if we do this players will stay, if we do not they will go it is that simple.

Even with all this said though if Liverpool did seriously come in with a £14m offer in January - which will not happen - can anyone honestly say they would not want that hand snapped off...

Yep, £14 mill and the scousers can have him. Especially if they buy him on the 1st of Jan before he heads off to the ANC.

I think its all got lost in translation, what he meant to say is that he is more than happy to stay with us as he wants to REMAIN in one of the biggest clubs. I know we haven't got the facilities yet but hey thats only bricks and motar, what we have got is an sole and passion within our fan base

He seems to have gone from 'I'd die for Pompey' to 'I'd like to go to a bigger club' in the space of a few days. I expect it is all paper talk. Seems a bit soon in his career for a club like Liverpool to come in for him. But if they want to give us Crouch and Gerrard in return . . .

These quotes are things he said when he joined us because I remember being a little angered but understanding at his desires. I was just happy for a player of his quality to be joining. I honestly don't think he'd be a huge loss to us yet because I don't think we've seen the best of him.

Yeah if the deal came up, I think we should rip Benitez's arm off, I reckon (at the moment as he's got more to offer) we would be doing well if we got a straight swap. We could always then play Matty alongside Niko, could prove interesting?

its the papers digging up 'old quotes' or doing what theyu do best, putting a spin on them in such a way that they see fit isnt it... his ambition will want him to play for the best, its understandable - we will just have to make sure we become one of the best :-) the papers want us to think that muntari has gone from 'i'd die for pompey' to 'i would leave if i can' so we turn on him - but we wont, we know what game they are playing!
