'Arry admits we got what we deserved

'Arry admits we got what we deserved

Harry Redknapp admitted to sky sports news after our defeat to Spurs that we got what we deserved: 'we got well beaten today. I thought Tottenham were the better team. We just never got going.

'I don't know why, it is difficult to put your finger on it, we have been in such great form all season.

'Credit to Tottenham they well deserved their win'.

I do not think that many, if any Pompey fans will deny that we were beaten and fairly so, we just did not get started and were never at the races. Why? Search me... actually, strike that a lot has got to be attributed to the lack of 4-4-2 formation at home, has it not?

Another blank at home concerns me, but Redknapp has played down any 'problems' with how things are going at home: 'we've always had a great home record at Portsmouth and largely we couldn't win away from home.

'This year we are winning away from home. But we haven't been losing that is our first defeat at home since I don't know when.

'It's no problem I don't care where you get your points from. It's been a great start to the season for us'.

So long as we are picking up wins away from home as we are to a large degree it does compensate for the lack of wins at home, but you always want to win on your own patch don't you. If we did keep losing at home - which we are not - I would be more worried though, I would like to see us pick up wins at home again, and not just draw.

We just need something to give at home and then all being well this will see an upturn in fortune - maybe this defeat was exactly what was needed to give us a kick up the backside?

Since you smashed seven past Reading your home scoring record has been shocking!

I'll say we got what we deserved, what a shambles......
16/12/2007 11:10:00
shocking in the fact that we cant score eh merlin, but its still only 1 defeat at home and 3 in total - so its not bad really is it, our performance yesterday tho that really was bad...
16/12/2007 11:13:00
I watched the game and was really *****ed off but the thing that got to me more than anything was Harrys post match comments - we were poor he admitted that we showed no spirit or fight he admitted that too.. but then he comes out with what we missed was KANU ... Sorry H you are having a laugh... What we need is a goalscorer .. not some lazy good for nothing you can't run more than two yard.. I can't wait for the African Cup of Nations it'll get Utaka and Kanu out of my sight for a good number of weeks - I hope Bertie Vogts does demand they go early and the I hope they reach the final .. that way Harry will not be able to play them for a while and I just hope the other players that come in to cover them can see what we all see and play so well that Kanu and Utaka can not get back into the team...
16/12/2007 11:57:00
yep, i heard that bit too and that wound me up - altho at the same time it seemed to suggest to me that he would have gone 2 up top... but then why didnt he do this anyway, but with dave nugent? i do like kanu but he is a spent force, he cannot play up front on his own and why 'arry keeps turning to him and praising him as the golden child im not sure, maybe he has something over him...
16/12/2007 12:03:00
I think the African Nations is what Utaka needs. It's as if he's run out of ideas being stuck on the right wing. Kanu's a wild one because sometimes he is an absolute genius yet if you play him regularly he quickly deteriorates. We need a strong, pacey forward with a deft touch and the strength of Hercules for £5million + Kanu. Anyone?

In technical jargon we were just bollox.
16/12/2007 14:35:00
i hate harry in interviews. he sucks cock
16/12/2007 19:26:00
Straight to the point eh Gleamer ... you seem as about as grumpy as I am today... results affect ya don't they... proves we care I suppose... We will bounce back I'm sure and we are 7th .. I would have taken that at this stage of the season if you would have asked me August..

Totally uncalled for comment PG.

MotM in poor Notts County show...Cambridge next

There wasn't too much to cheer from the Notts County defeat was there, well certainly not the 2nd half at Fratton Park but one plus was seen as Amine Linganzi for Pompey.

Double figure aim for Baker

Goals are in the game of Baker; we've seen this already as the midfielder has scored four for Pompey since his arrival from MK Dons in the summer. His aim is at least 10-goals.
