Pompey to see off Spurs!

Pompey will beat Spurs at the Fortress this weekend! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I completely agree with.

We have found it 'tough', to say the least to score at home recently but in all fairness the last 3 league games that have ended 0-0 have been against defensively well-organised sides - Spurs are not that at all... they have been awful defensively this season.

So even if we do not play with a 4-4-2 formation - that many want to see at home - and stick with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 - which many also agree is best suited away from the Fortress - I would be amazed if we cannot score a couple - at least once - against Spurs, that is not to say that I cannot see them failing to score either, as I can. I do think we will score more though as we will get plenty of chances.

I felt we could have beaten West Ham, City and Everton but it was always going to be mighty difficult, whist I am not banking with Spurs being a 'nailed on 3 points' I will be bitterely disappointed if we do not win to be honest.

One thing that we can be sure of is that 'cheat' Didier Zokora will get a 'welcome reception' tomorrow wont he! It will be a reception that he more than deserves after his shocking play-acting that won Spurs a penalty that ultimately won the game at White Hart Lane last season.

I would have been as disgusted with one of our players as I have been with him had they cheated as disgracefully as he had and would not have made exceptions, clearly though it is easier for you to accept - as much as you, well I know I, might not want this - when this goes for, rather than against you...

What the poll asked - Pompey v Spurs?

How you voted - Pompey win 66%, Spurs win 22%, Draw 14%

Current Poll - We are rapidly reaching the half way point of the season, and at the moment things are going fantastically well for Pompey.

We are only a couple of games away from the midway point of the season and so far have 30 points from 16 games, not bad in anybodies books is it? But can we sustain this form, will it dip or will it get even better, so what are you expecting come May - this is what 'whitestones' wants to know with this - 'how many points do you think Pompey will have at the end of the season?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

I have this down as 2-2, just can't see it goalless, Both can score, so it should be a good game.

my mentality is that we should go into a season thinking that we 'shouldnt lose to anyone at home' no exceptions... if we lose against spurs i would be more than a tad disappointed, even 'only' getting a point would not leave me too happy... this weekend is a chance to stamp authority over spurs isnt it.

Bit naive, yes Portmouth have played teams recently with a better defence than spurs, but also teams with weaker offence.

Table doesnt lie, you are a good side this season, but we havent lost at fratton park for 3 years, recording a win and 2 draws, Defoe will start and score is my prediction from a spurs point of view. Don't write us off to easy but I understand your thinking as we had the same train of thought last year!

We hadn't won at Villa Park or St James Park for many years until recently! And Pompey are playing spectacularly well right now. Yes we've drawn at home lately, but against teams on better form than Spurs at the moment. Spurs' defence is very leaky and ours is rock solid. Can't see anything other than a good Pompey win, and will be gutted if we don't get it.

Shropshire Yid, mate you might not have lost at fratton for 3 years but we are a much better side than the team you faced in all of those games...

This will be harder then most think. Obviously we want the win but this Spurs team can hurt you & they can score goals. Very much a case of how out scores who. I doubt if it will be 0-0. And there is the Sol factor. They will give him some serious stick, let's hope he holds his nerve.

Pompey fans - Getting a bit carried away with 'overperforming' we have finished 5th two seasons in a row, and althought we probably won't this season, alot has changed at the club. If you will be dissapointed at only getting a point, then you are deluded - COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

Indeed we all hear your comments and referring to Zokora he was very new to the PL so pls go easy on the lad - he is fresh from another bunch of histile mutts namely that outfit in Belgium. I would like to say that I expect a top drawer performance form Matty boy. Obviously he'll be keen to impress Ramos as Defoe will be keen to impress against Arry. I would alos like to add that fools paradise is where you lot are right now. We all know that you are mid season chokers - table doesn't lie .... tut tut well it didn't at the end of last season whne you ran out pf steam did it you cants. Expect a lot tougher match than you have bargained for. and expect defoe to be at the dubble - well he's scoring with the ladis so lets hope that form rubs off on your rubbish tip of a ground and will lead us into and nice positive mentality to take three points away from the Immigrants Stad Du France in a week! You lot are in danger of becoming Spurs fans you carry on like nthis!! Overhyping the team is for ust do not you! You lot aint bad, you've done well and you've got a half decent manager... but after being a good team for 3 months, you're now dissapointed with a point from Spurs? The team that finished best of the rest the last 2 years? We had a bad defence then as wel, it just didn't get talked about cos we were winning games... we've only lost something like 1 in our last 9 games... something like that.. so our form isn't too bad. I like Portsmouth, but I hope we can give you a bit of a reality check this weekend... maybe you won't put so much pressure on a team, that is already over achieving! Please don't mention breaking into the top 4 again, not at least until you've finished up the busimess end of the table more than once in the last 50 years! I still like your club... I always look out for your results... I just don't like whoever wrote this article... bit of a muppet!

They say " you're only as good as your last game " or season for that matter. Last year is...well, last year. Until I read that Mark Lawrenson picked us to win, I was certain of it. Now, I'm fearful that Spurs may squeak a point out of us.

Since the Pedro Mendes double smash over Citeh all the years ago no other team outside the top four has a better form that Portsmouth. Anyone else hear that stat last weekend?

Dan Mac, well this bit of a muppet is only speaking for himself - just because i personally will not be happy with 'only' getting a point this doesnt mean that everyone feels that way... mate if i ever got to the point where i was like some spurs fans i would want to be shot as some of your lot wind me up no end! pompey are a side on the up but still far too many people are not taking notice of us, hopefully they soon will...

All season pre match reports have been posted on this site and all season various members of the opposing teams have come on and commented on what they thought was going to happen - 90% of the time posts have been good natured and 'banterish' then we play Spurs... I have to say fellas that some (not all of you) give you supporters a bad name with your over arrogance and we are a big club attitude - I tell you what ... It's no wonder a lot of clubs don't like Spurs fan.. for the first time I can see why - Really hope Pompey stuff you today .... Up the Pompey - Campbell, Mendes, Pamarot and Davis to Score....
