Benjani moves to Actim summit

Portsmouth's African hotshot Benjani Mwaruwari sits proudly at the top of The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League, after his 19-point haul in the classy 3-1 win at Aston Villa took him above Arsenal starlet Cesc Fabregas.

Injury has kept the Gunner out for the last couple of weeks and Benjani has taken full advantage, now six points clear of the Spaniard and just seven points short of the 300 mark this season.

It was also a good weekend for Ghana international Sulley Muntari, who scored two absolute peaches at Villa Park, earning himself a place in the Actim team of the week.

Muntari rose 66 places to 127th overall in the process with his 35 points on Saturday - his best individual match score of the season so far.

Analysis of all Premiership games is taking place throughout the season and the players in the Actim Index Team of the Week are:

Robert Green - West Ham United
Steven Taylor - Newcastle United
Habib Beye - Newcastle United
Pascal Chimbonda - Tottenham Hotspur
Gael Clichy - Arsenal
Sulley Muntari - Portsmouth
Stewart Downing - Middlesbrough
James Harper - Reading
Mikel Arteta - Everton
Ayegbeni Yakubu - Everton
Carlos Tevez - Manchester United

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player's contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.

...how did Downing make it to the team ?..did Spineless get a job with Actim ?
Toronto4Pompey
boro played very well against arsenal didnt they and he scored too, so that must have helped his actim rating...
pompeyrug
benji being top of the actim rating doesnt surprise me at all really as he works so hard doesnt he, so in the areas that they measure - now that he is scoring goals too - its easy to see why he is doing so well!
pompeyrug
You guys haven't even played a game yet and 37% of fans think that you are going to win the FA cup ????? R U hoping to get away draws all the way????????
Villan444
draws, we just beat villa away, whats this joker talking about
whitestones
I meant that you would be drawn away, as you seem to have a far better record on the road than at fratton shed ;-)
Villan444
the odd thing about it, si that this time last year, they would be saying "r u hoping to get home draws all the way?" - with our home form still good, and our away form th best in the league, why shouldnt we win the cup?
pompeycarpet
and benji thououghly deserves his place there - although i am surprised he is up there, considering the...lack of goals...in recent games
pompeycarpet
Well Villan444, that bodes well for the final then as apparently it's an away fixture at Wembley
pentonpompey
i think he means get drawn away to teams so that we win because we are so good away
jbaker
woah i hadnt refreshed in a while, didnt see any other comments, my comment was in response to whitestones comment
jbaker
(PLAY) UP...UP & AWAY !!!
Toronto4Pompey
even tho you are playing united again Villan444, surely you must feel that villa can win the fa cup? clearly until you start playing you cannot really have any real degree of an idea but why shouldnt pompey win it... as penton says if we make the final then were nailed on - we always win away :-)
pompeyrug
my bad to the villan ;)
whitestones
Benji top of the actim index cant be bad ..he'll run away with it if he starts scoring again .. as for the cup good luck to Villa if they can beat Manure it'll save us a job :)
