Transfer talk distracting Benjani

Benjani has yet again committed his future to Pompey but has told The Sun that speculation linking him with a move to Juventus is distracting him: 'I'm committed to Pompey. The transfer talk is an unnecessary distraction'.

He is still working as hard as ever but has now gone 4 games without a goal and his finishing at times recently has not quite been 'up to scratch' and this has coincided with the reports of interest in him from Europe.

The best way for Benjani to deal with this 'speculation' is to put it out of his head and start banging in the goals again, although this is likely to bring further speculation...

On the topic of strikers The News is also reporting that former Paris St Germain hitman Fabrice Pancrate has been offered a trial with Pompey.

I do not know a great deal about the current Sochaux man, but he does not seem to be exactly prolific although he can play as a striker - his main position - as well as a right winger, which could appeal to Harry Redknapp.

Pancrate is a 27 years old righty, he has been featured in 7 matches so far and is without a goal. Last year he split his time between PSG and Betis, he played in 26 matches and scored 2 goals. His highest goal tally in his carrer is 5. It seems like he is more of a midfielder than striker.

if we didnt take on mohamed kallon the chances of us accepting pancrate are minimal. benjani hasnt had an easy chances in the last few games, and he is now top of the actim index so hes not exactly playing badly!

Don't know anything about Pancake so really can't comment. As for Benji he needs to focus and start scoring again .... SOON - He is only as good as his last game and as much aof a worker than he is if he aint scoring he aint doing his job !!.... God I'm in a harsh mood tonight..

fair play Chix... i fully agree with you jbaker if kallon wasnt signed i cannot see pancrate signing.
pompeyrug
I cant see him signing with us as well, but what if he is just a temporary reinforcement on loan for the ANC, that could be usefull
whitestones
oh also concerning Kallon, he is from Sierra Leon, so we would potentially miss him as well during the cup days , that may have had something to do with not signing him (just speculating tho)
whitestones
Why the hell he wants to think about the match fixing ities is beyondf me. Let's hope he won't be all miserable next month whilst his team mates are sunning it up & he's stuck in wet England.

sorry rug i think you are being unreasonable to expect the man to just put it out of his head, goals is what he needs
russellm
if he wants to stay why would he have to dwell on it? i think about changing job, and have been offered thing in the past - i might think about it but if it isnt something that i want to do i concentrate on what i am doing and put what i could have down out of my head - i made my bed so i lay in it kind of thing, couldnt the same thing count here? surely its flattering but if he doesnt want to do it should he not put it out of his head - it could be used as an excuse...
