Crouchy is the one that we want

Crouchy is the one that we want

From the names most commonly linked with Pompey Peter Crouch is the one that we want! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from whitestones' poll are thoughts that I do not share to be honest.

I was a very big fan of Crouch when he was first at Fratton, and although not everyone has been keen on him over the years I have always thought that he was a better footballer than he was given credit for, so I would welcome a return - and do not think this would mean us playing 'a long ball game' as this is not our way, nor is it his, he does not like this as he likes it to feet.

Leroy Lita is a player that I like, so would happily also see him at Pompey but as most of you will know I have always had this feeling that we will see Jermain Defoe at Pompey sometime this season. I was sure that it would happen last summer, when it did not I still felt that January could be the time, and it still could.

When I was up in Birmingham yesterday I was told that Crouch had apparently been in the area viewing a new home, so it looks as though Villa Park could be his destination, with it also said that Defoe is another that is being very closely linked and could well join him...

What the poll asked - Which one of these player talked about in the media would you most like to see in a Pompey uniform?

How you voted - Peter Crouch 41%, Leroy Lita 21%, Jermaine Defoe 18%, Andres D'Alessandro 12%, Jonas Gutierrez 4%, Gyan Asamoah 4%

Current Poll - Benjani started the season like a house on fire with the goals he was scoring, but these had dried up a bit recently, so is he still the man to top our scoring chats?

The goals have been shared around a fair bit more recently, and the goals that Benjani is now scoring have dried up a little. Will he still be the fella to finish as out top scorer this season or will it be someone else - this is what Et_tu_Pompeii wants to know with this - 'so who now will finish the season as our top scorer?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

I voted for Crouch as I would love to see him learning from Kanu.

not really sure who i want - but we need a goal scorer, and i think lita could get the goals - but he hasnt been playing much recently, so im becoming less convinxced he would get them? that said, he would be linked up with nugent again (if he stays) who played together succesfully in the maybe...

'arry has not had the best of times finding strikers down the years has he, but i think whoever he gets in will be the right striker and will get the goals that we need.

I dont prefer Crouch, but if we got him I would still be happy because he does have some quality. The only thing I dont like about his transfer is that he would be pricey and that may mean that we would have to sell some quality players for low price to finance his move.

I think Lita would flourish, although I can't see it happening, Can't imagine Harry having two young strikers on the books learning their trade. Although if we're going down that route, Marlon King has all the attributes

Think you might end up disappointed on this one, I think he is on the way back to Villa.
The Fear

In all honesty, i can't ever see Crouchy back here, i think he thinks he's too good for a small club like ours
09/12/2007 16:57:00
Sorry to disappoint you Fear but, HE'S STICKING WITH US!
