Gutierrez would like Pompey move

Jonas Gutierrez is reported as basically telling the Daily Mirror that he wants to sign for Pompey: 'I know the situation and my position has not changed. If the offer is right then I would like to play in the Premier League.

'I am convinced I could be a success for a club like Portsmouth and am ambitious to succeed.

'They have a very good reputation and want to be successful so it is a club that appeals'.

If these quotes are genuine, then he is saying all the right things to get himself a move to Pompey.

Pompey have not hidden an interest in the Argentinean international winger, but Harry Redknapp has been well and truly put off - apparently - by the £7m that Real Mallorca are asking, which is so 'high' due to the fact that his previous club Newell's Old Boys will get 50% of any fee the Spanish side get.

Gutierrez is not a fella I know much about - but I am still fascinated by his Spiderman mask goal celebration stories, they must be on youtube surely? - but if the price can be right, if Redknapp feels he is the winger that we need then you would hope he will be right?

My thinking is that either Gutierrez or Andres D'Alessandro will arrive in the new year, my own preference would still be D'Alessandro to be honest, but this could be because I have always been such a fan of his anyway - but 'returning' to an old club is not always a good thing is it...

Is there an issue with part-ownership here - ie like Mascherano/ Tevez for West Ham last season?

Tevez and Mascherano were owned by a third party, an agent company, this is half/half ownership between 2 clubs, a lot neater and fairly common in Italy. Since Mallorca are asking 7 million does that mean his full transfer would be 14 million??? That is a ridiculously high figure, I think 7 million is plenty for a player of his quality.

i had not thought of it that way mate, i was thinking it was £7m - £3.5m to each... surely mallorca werent meaning £7m for them and £7m for newell's old boys too?

I believe it 7m total, i'd be happy at that...I said back in the summer he'd be a good buy, it would give us greater depth and might just give Utaka a kick up the rectum

you're right, I was thinking that Mallorca wanted 7 million as their cut from players, but later I read that it is the 7 that is split. My bad :)

The Andres D'Alessandro rumours were a few weeks ago now, are they still bubbling? It still makes me wince to think of him having that mask secreted in his toilet area then whipping it out and wearing it when he scores! Can't think too many of his team mates will join in with the hugs and, yughh. kisses celebrations. But we do like a character, don't we?

Don't think he is part owned by Newells, I think it is more of a case of a sell-on deal, much like when we sold the Yak and Haifa got part of the profit

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.
