A Pompey win is expected!

A Pompey win is expected!

Pompey will beat Everton tomorrow! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I share, just...

Everton are going to provide a real challenge for us at the Fortress tomorrow and anyone expecting 'an easy win' is seriously mistaken.

They spanked Sunderland last week 7-1, but they were poor - not that I am saying Everton are not good, as they are - but we are a much better side than Sunderland and will not defend a fraction as poorly as they did.

The question is can we break down the Everton defence?

My answer would be yes, so I reckon we will get back to winning ways at the Fortress tomorrow as we look to once again turn it into a winning Fortress.

What the poll asked - Pompey v Everton?

How you voted - Pompey win 48%, Everton win 30%, Draw 22%

Current Poll - Pompey have been in fantastic away form this season, how far can this take us - who else can we beat?

We have lost to both Arsenal and Chelsea on the road this season, at Arsenal we got what we deserved when we were poor, against Chelsea we were robbed. We go to Old Trafford in the New Year, can we get something from this - this is what auntwallop wants to know with this - 'given our away record, will we get our first win at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

You may be confident of breaking our defence, but it isn't all that bad. Tim Howard has been doing fantasticy, yobo and lescott are in the top 5 partnerships in the leageu IMO, and with Baines and neville either side they aren't too shobby. Add to that we leave carsley on the edge of the area at all times to prevent teams getting too much space in the hole. We've scored the second most in the league this season. I'm fairly confident ahead of this game, so much so i wouldn't take a draw now.

I worry more about the likes of Everton than I do with Ma Utd. It will be a very tough game tomorrow. They will do what other have been doing & will try & hit us on the break & set pieces. Everton's have soring/attacking players as we do. Should we win & I very much hope so, it will be a very good result beating a very good team. Then again the weather will try & turn it into a farce & skill & form goes go for a burton.

My concern is that at home we are unable to score against any sort of organised opposition like WHU or MCFC. Everton are on a roll at the moment and with Harry currently shell shocked and devastated ( sky about 10 mins ago) i think we will struggle to beat them. However having said that i have just put a tenner on us to win :-)

agree with the above - this game will be both harder, and more important than when we play man u, and to make matters worse, our preparatiions have been disrupted by harrys meet up with the police, and theres has been pretty perfect with there 7-1 win at the weekend...all in all, im going for an everton win...

hope you are wrong carpet or i have just lost another tenner, what i am convinced about is that 4,5,1 is still not the best way to go against organised teams like man city & Everton

agree completely with that mate 4-4-2 is the way to go, offer something alittle different up front and more surprising, people know what to expect with our 4-5-1/4-3-3 and it isnt working at home on the whole is it - teams are prepared for this and come to the fortress prepared to do all they can to counter it... and most have, look at the united game, as soon as we changed we caused more threat.

It's gonna be a tough one... The poll result is interesting in as much that 48% reckon Pompey will win but 52% feel that Pompey won't. I too think a change of formation is needed in order to bring us a win at home... time for Taylor and Nugent in a 442 .... If that happens I think we will edge it...just. It if doesn't I'm not so sure.

Everton have won 5 out of 6 at the Park but that goes back nearly 50 years. Home win but narrow I think.

442 , a narrow win .... It could have been but instead we were treated' to a below par performance from most of the midfield and a tired attacker who looks like he needs some support 451 at home 'arry come on mate .. we could be winning these games not settling for a draw after 70 minutes..

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!
