'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Redknapp: 'I'm innocent!' (AUDIO)

Following the dramatic news that Harry Redknapp was arrested in relation to the Football Corruption investigation, the Pompey boss came out with all guns blazing blasting the Police for arriving to his house at 6am with photographers from national tabloids, search his house whilst his wife was home alone. Redknapp was watching the Stuttgart vs Rangers match in the Champions League and was in transit on his way back to the country when police arrived.

Redknapp, who had thrown his name into the hat for the England job, denied he did anything that could be seen as wrong, claiming that the club has never carried out any transfer in an unjust manner. He also believes staunchly that he is only involved because he is high profile.

The 60-year old was arrested along with Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie, ex-Chairman Milan Mandaric, former player Amdy Faye, now of Glasgow Rangers, and his agent Willie McKay.

i believe that 'arry is innocent and it appears that he has been proven so, so hopefully these 'tabliods' that have dragged his name through the mud can help smooth things out - he's no angel, but he isnt a crook.

Watched it live on Setanta and he sure was livid but kept his sense of humour as always. Give it a listen it helps balance some of the rubbish batted about in the gutter press this morning!!

Good for Harry. Very strong and credible performance. I believe him! I couldn't listen to the link on this page as my work firewall wont allow it. But watched on Setanta website. Interestingly they cut out a short chunk where he clearly says what the investigation is about . I guess the 'lawyers' were worried about it all being 'aledgedly'.

his name was linked with the whole Lord Stevens investigation now for months this is just the blowup of the investigation, its good to hear 'arry himself clear up the story and Im really glad that its all crock, because if Harry left we would be in dire straits

The fact that the police had press photographers in tow is absolutely appalling - where do they get off doing that?! I don't blame Harry for being upset about that. I believe he's innocent too, it has to be said that the way this has been conducted has been done to make him look as guilty as possible, and to play on the del-boy image and that awful Panorama programme, where they dragged his name through the mud without a shred of actual evidence.

Deanovilla - you may well make these snidy comments, but do you realise it makes it more likely than before you'll lose O'Neill to the England job?

I fully agree with the boycott of the red tops. I only read them if I pick them up on the train, I also back Tracy over tghe whole manner in which HR has been treated - just because he is a cockney sparrow wide boy does not make hime a crook!!

Good point Tracy. It's typical of the tabloid-driven *****e society that we're sinking to in this country. Someone in the Old Bill out to make a name for himself I guess. No wonder people have no respect for them....as for the red-top papers, they are beyond contempt.

scandelous that he got dragged in, BUT Deanovilla is spot on. us pompey fans will know he is innocent, but the amount of times he has been cought up in the past, people really will go "yeah right". that will cut his backing for the england job, so he will stay with us, but to be honest, does it matter what they think of our manager? just so long as we play good football, entertain, and win, im happy.

If it helps, Harry, Milan etc were arrested for Conspiarcy to ........ This means that even the tea lady could get ropped in. So the wicked police arrest everybody who might know something. Give them a hard time and hope one or two put their hands up or give evidence against the main culprits. Good old Harry was having none of it. The man is god and he deserves everbodys support.

i think alot of people are the same mate, they read but dont comment, which is fair enough. eventually most do break their silence tho :-) and when they do they dont turn back... 'arry know that the pompey fans, his real friends and family and in all fairness many other teams fans are supportive of him - and i think he will find this out at the fortress tomorrow! i expect him to get a fantastic reception.

I'd just like to say that the treatment of HR was horrible. I do not think he is involved in anything and I wonder, as he said it himself, why wasn't he asked to go and have a chat with the police instead of being woken up at home at 6 am. He has my support in this. Cheers.

he wasnt woken up at 6am in the morning, as he was in germany then...but his WIFE was ;-) - he was actually asked to go to the police for a chat. and the reason was, that it would mean that 'arry and peter storrie wouldnt have a chance to agree a story (no pun intended) before hand.
