'Arry says it doesn't concern me
Harry Redknapp has told reporters - with this appearing first on sky sports - that he was only arrested to assist the Police with their enquires.
He says he had to be arrested to be taken to the police station to assist with there enquires: 'we all helped the police with their inquiries, but it doesn't directly concern me - it's other people involved.
'I've been answering questions to help the police. I am not directly concerned with their inquiries.
'They have to arrest you to talk to you, for you to be in the police station.
'I think that's the end of it. It didn't directly concern me'.
It is being said that the allegations being made are believed to be regarding 2 of the other men arrested, not Redknapp or Peter Storrie who were just assisting with enquires.
Lets hope that this is the end of it for Redknapp and he can now crack on with his preparations for our game with Everton at the weekend.
Come on 'arry there as easier ways to rule yourself out of the England running to prevent yourself being branded a 'traitor' by English fans than this...

I posted somewhere in the forums last night that although most people believe this is a good thing, in as much it will scupper his chances of the England job and he'll therefore stay with Pompey, but I think it will have the opposite effect.... If harry has done nothing wrong, and that appears to be the case, then he will be given a 'clean bill of health' by the police and the FA can therefore view him as somebody who has been investigated and been given the all clear rather than somebody who has a cloud hanging over him as he did a couple of days ago... Surely from an FA point of view 'their man' is now whiter than he was.. That strenghtens his case not weakens it in my book... Just an alternate way of looking at things...

Chix, You may well have a point. Thing is though, the FA will never appoint Harry because he is the best man for the job. When did they ever appoint the best man for the job?

Lads I agree with both of you. In the pubs last night your roving reporter found that people were saying 'we always new he was dodgy dealer', 'been coming a long time' and 'thats the England job out the window'. But if his name is cleared that hopefully will change the minds of the cynics. As for the FA I think they will now be courting Jose but who knows.

I was panicking last night, but panic over now. I don't think the FA will have enough sense to say 'he's in the clear and he's the best man for the job'. I think they'll steer clear of him anyway. Bad news for Harry, good news for Pompey.

One problem last night in the pubs was I could find no-one to say 'would you like a pint'. I mean this roving reporting is expensive you know!!

i would have bought you a pint if i was there dave :-) my problem here is that when mud is thrown it sticks and even though he is in the clear - as it appears - people will just use this against him no matter what wont they... just because he's portrayed as a 'dell boy' it doesnt mean that he is, i thought it was appauling that right away, before anything else he was 'assumed guilty' so his name was totally written off as a potential england manager, he had such a backing building up, then suddenly he was guilty right away and no one was talking about him anymore... he looked as tho he had built up a reputation that he deserved, i just hope it isnt ruined now...

all this said tho, i would be more han happy if he didnt get the england job - i just hope this is all and he still gets the credit he deserves...

Trouble is 7 inch high letters saying REDKNAPP ARRESTED on Page 1 of the paper, doesnt have the same effect as 1/4 inch letters on page 19 of the same paper, saying whoops we was wrong, he is in the clear. As said by others, Shat Sticks, and people always look and think, "I bet he did it, and got away with it again, slimey character" etc. I still think its McKay who took £2 off Pompey to buy Faye, and only paid Auxere £1.5m then done it again when selling him to Newcastle, so McKay naked money for himself both times. If you think back, it was about that time that Milan went public saying he didnt trust those bloody agents, they always seem to be the winner financially. Bet scummer scouness is guilty of helping him too, coz he was a scummer and a jock and a waste of space lol.

Mr Rug, can you not do an article calling for budding lyricists to put pen to paper to make our vocal abilities more pleasing to the ear. We have our chimes, we have our anti scummer songs and we have our Barrow and apples and the likes but we need something new, something original, and not just in one song, more originality please. I listened to West Ham, and Liverpool and their fans all pick up quick on new songs, and are witty with it too. We have that here, we have great vocal fans but too many follow Johnny and his out of date songs, we need songs of new. So maybe we need a nice article calling on all to get behind the team with some new undated songs, and Tracey's song can lead the way, as hearing that on saturday would be good news for all at vital too, knowing this site is being read and digested and does have an effect on the fans afterall. wow, some real muscily talented people are on this site ;-) It would be great to hear some of these songs going round fratton park on saterday...all we need is a big group of people to stand up and sing them REALLY loudly, and they might...MIGHT...catch on. oh, and deano villa, 'arry reckons that the "arrest" bit was just to add profile to the investigations - and possibly to make sure that him and peter couldnt confirm the story befor hand - nothing says he was going to be charged with anything.
