We all think very highly of David James at Pompey, we also know that Harry Redknapp does too, but he has again reiterated this with what he has told the Pompey site. Speaking about how he felt he dealt with the threat posed by Birmingham at the weekend: 'They had a few crosses that came into the box in the opening 15 minutes and Jamo came and plucked them out of the air.
'He's a fantastic goalkeeper - in terms of talent no one comes near him.
'At times in the past he's been rash and made mistakes. It's almost as if he's been bored and wants to get involved in the action.
'But he's been absolutely fantastic for us'.
I could not agree more with Redknapp and the longer he plays for us the more I am convinced he is one of the best keepers that I have seen and certainly would not swap him for many, if any…
If any keepers are looking for someone to learn from then they will not find many better than James, who has always been a good keeper but sometimes let himself down in he past, for reasons mentioned by Redknapp.
Some might laugh, but my thinking is that he has gotten better since he came here and is still learning the game despite being 37. He has been far more focused and a lot of this I feel is due to the coaching he is getting here.
