Redknapp's praise for James

Redknapp's praise for James

We all think very highly of David James at Pompey, we also know that Harry Redknapp does too, but he has again reiterated this with what he has told the Pompey site. Speaking about how he felt he dealt with the threat posed by Birmingham at the weekend: 'They had a few crosses that came into the box in the opening 15 minutes and Jamo came and plucked them out of the air.

'He's a fantastic goalkeeper - in terms of talent no one comes near him.

'At times in the past he's been rash and made mistakes. It's almost as if he's been bored and wants to get involved in the action.

'But he's been absolutely fantastic for us'.

I could not agree more with Redknapp and the longer he plays for us the more I am convinced he is one of the best keepers that I have seen and certainly would not swap him for many, if any…

If any keepers are looking for someone to learn from then they will not find many better than James, who has always been a good keeper but sometimes let himself down in he past, for reasons mentioned by Redknapp.

Some might laugh, but my thinking is that he has gotten better since he came here and is still learning the game despite being 37. He has been far more focused and a lot of this I feel is due to the coaching he is getting here.

spot on once again. the goal he let in agaisnt reading, it was almost as if he was just plain bored with the game, and thought it needed spicing up. when your playing against him thees no point putting crosses into the box, as he'll just grab them, and theres no point in shooting from distence, as he will save them (unless you get lucky). of course, he will ocasionaly let a shot go in if he thinks its a good shot, or if hes bored, and thinks it would spice up the game...but other than that...best keeper in the premiership, BY FAR!!!

i was arguing jamo's case for england and him being one of the best keepers in the league over the weekend... i thought he was good before he arrived, but didnt think he was as good as we now see he is, but as i say i think he has got better since he arrived anyway! i think he is one of the examples of 'you dont realise how good he is until he plays for you'...

The best keeper in the country by far, and a huge influence on the whole team. You can see the confidence in them as they realise that behind them is a great keeper. His physical presence is immense, and the way he shouts at the team keeps them on their toes at all times.

When we signed him I was surprised because I didn't think we needed another keeper. I get it now!

command of the area is all important isnt it - very few command it better than jamo... when you have this sort of authority behind you it installs confidence in the defence, you know you can rely on him and he can you so as a team it works perfectly. im just glad that we will have at least another 3 years of him in our goal!
