Vital Fantasy Football - 'Pompey mini league'

After the latest round of league games of the 2007/08 season as always - which seems to be the case - there is no change in the top 3, so the current leader in the Vital Fantasy Football 'Pompey mini league' remains The Pompey Chimes on 496 points, who retains top spot for a 6th week running. Crazy Cats has 467 points to remain the closest challenger - closing the gap - also retaining 2nd spot for a 6th week, with Always Victory on 445 points in 3rd, again for a 6th week running, but again also closing the gap.

The Pompey Chimes, Crazy Cats and Always Victory are in the top 70 of almost 4500 entries overall - in 4th, 17th and 69th places respectively - congratulations fellas.

This is something I missed, and have only just realised but The Pompey Chimes also picked up the manager of the month for October, so walked away with £250 - cracking stuff mate!

'Pompey predictions league'

It was a good week on the whole in the Pompey Predictions League for the Birmingham game as most people went for the win that we got.

auntwallop was the highest points scorer this week with 6, correctly predicting a win as well as predicting goals for Muntari and Kranjcar.

Chix again just about retains top spot for a 9th week running, his 4 points took him onto 36 points in total. Pompeyrug keeps 2nd spot for an 8th week running, a further 4 points also took me to 36 points overall too. Steaming climbs into the top 3, moving up from 6th last time round. 4 points meant 27 in total.

The Birmingham game also saw the end of the month, so it is monthly winner time again. November saw pompeyrug - me - the highest points scorer with 10 points, but seen as I am 'the landlord' and it is my competition I cannot very well enter myself into the end of season draw for monthly winners for a prize can I? So I will have to pass this honour onto Chix, as he was the next highest points scorer with 8 points, so he gets his name into the draw once again.

If you missed out on predicting for the Birmingham game, as well as any others it is never too late - just start with your predictions for the next with Everton at Fratton this coming Saturday. So if you have not already made your predictions on this game with Everton do it here.

So... in the Prediction League.. if you predict the right result (i.e.a win) and go with a high score and a lot of different scorers (i.e say 5-0 with five different people ...) and Pompey win and just one of those scorers scores ... that's the same as predicting the correct result (i.e 1-0) but getting the scorer wrong ... So.... would I not be better off predicting an 11-0 win and naming everybody.. gauranteeing (assuming a win) at least four points for a 1-0 win or 6 for a two nil win etc.. Is that right ... I'm not going change the way I predict as I like trying to get it spot on ... but just trying to work out the logic... ..Skill wise.. Is predicting a 1-0 win (with the wrong scorer) equal to predicting an 11-0 win (naming the whole team) .. maybe I'll just shut up and go read the rules.. I seem to be doing ok anyway....

if you read the original thread on the forum, rug said that he would ignore anybody that predicted 11-0wins. oh, and i think he also said that if anybody was being excessive, he would just take the firs scoreres listed? i think tht that was already discussed elsewhere... and yet another poor week for me!

yep rev - just read the rules :-) its unrealistic, if i think someone is just extracting they urine i will only take the frist x amount of names mentioned - but on the whole we are playing fair arent we... not a mention of my gracious 'giving up' of my prediction of the month winning!

I know ... I'm not so sure I would have done that ... there's being gracious but then there's down right stupidity ;) - I remember the debate in the forum now and as I said I won't chace the way I do it but it's the first time (i think) that I've noticed how it could affect a scoreline.. oh well back in my box... Who am I to complain (not that I was ;)
