The number of the beast!
Certain things catch your eye and the number of the beast - 666 - had caught my eye not once, but twice on a matter of minutes as far as Vital Pompey was concerned last night...
Not only did I get home last night to find that sometime between 4pm and 11pm someone had registered to Vital Pompey to become our 666th member - who they were I do not know, but the other instance occurred just as I was about to call it a day... I noticed that my point's tally in the member's league had ticked round to 666 points!
I do not think myself as 'overly superstitious' but 'I will not change my Pompey shirt if we are on a run of unbeaten games', 'I will not walk over a run of 3 manhole covers in a row', 'I do not like the number 13' and it kind of freaks me out when 'I do notice the beasts number of 666'.
Quite what the point of me sharing this with you is I am not sure, I just had to and what it means I do not know, probably nothing - I just hope it is not any kind of bad 'omen' for the weekend ahead...

2 seasons ago I was unable to get near a radio to find out what was going on for 2 matches in a row. The first was Man City - and the second was West Ham. Yes, the start of the Great Escape! I spent the rest of the season being unable to listen to any matches on the radio or watch them on TV. It was hell - but I did it for the blues! It worked didn't it?

woo hoo, ive just checked and we are onto 667 now - were no longer doomed... so its not my fault anymore! i like the iron maiden reference stroagematt.

also so far this month - if you are interested - vital pompey has submitted 102 articles and we sit 8th in the vital teams league behind arsenal in 6th - 4349pts and leeds 7th - 4324pts, we have 4213pts... i think we were 8th last week, but to have arsenal in touching distance shows our progress as they have alot of people that get involved, leeds have a hell of a lot of members too i think... lets try and catch and pass these 2!

I'll be good if we continue to grow as much a we have in the past couple of months ..... I just hope we don't slide done to 666th place... but there aren't that many team in the English and Scottish leagues so I think we'll be ok - 667 members wow thats good and we have about 65 who make a post (of some description) each month ... so that means about 90% of our readers are just that, readers.... If any of you silent boys and girls want to say hello - Just come on in, it's warm and friendly .. especially on these cold winter mornings

i think that alot of people start off this way dont they rev - they have a look for a while, suss things out then make the plunge... once they do they dont turn back... not bragging but more than 200 members have been attracted during my term as 'landlord' which isnt bad going. keep it up fellas, pompey for global domination :-)
