Club before country
I care more about Pompey than I do England! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from The Rabbi's poll are thoughts I completely agree with.
I am a proud Englishman and as much as I might try to pretend that 'I do not care' about England at times I know that I do, and always will - however a choice between Pompey and England will yield only one winner every time... Pompey.
What has happened with England over the past few years has seen them slip right down in my order of importance, as I say I do care but the distinct lack of passion, commitment and enthusiasum coming out of the England performances for several years now has seen them go from virtually on a par with Pompey, to Pompey success over England any day of the week.
I was 'disappointed' that we lost out to Croatia last night, at first I thought I was 'gutted' but soon realised it was only disappointment, I have not been anywhere near as 'gutted' as I thought I would be in all honesty, maybe this will come next summer when we aren't there...
I care, before anyone says that I do not, or the other 90 odd percent do not care, just clearly not as much as I - we - do about Pompey!

Current Poll - Club football finally returns this weekend with a trip to Birmingham, scene of that horrendous 5-0 thrashing the last time we visited.
We may have been hammered that day, but we were the ones that stayed up, so we ended up laughing at the end of the season, but who will be laughing on Saturday - this is what pompeyrug wants to know with this - 'Birmingham v Pompey?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

I found the opening 14 minutes of eng v Cro pretty funny especially Niko Kranjcars goal. if Gerrard or Lampard gave a performance for their club similar to last nights display then they'd be hounded out of the club fast. personally i can't wait for our game at Villa next month when Niko meets Scott Carson again. We should all shout 'shoot' as soon as Niko touches the ball!

"niko kranjcar saves england" -should have been the headline this morning. I would love england to do really well, i really would - but under McClaren, we wernt going to win anything - but were england to play sensibly, then yes, as an englishmen, i would rather england won the world cup, than pompey won the FA cup. i really cant stand people saying e are stuck in 1966 - its worse than saying pompey are stuck in 1949. pompey are doing something about it, its time for england to follow suit.

A few years ago i would have thought it unthinkable that we all cared so little about the national team.
However the FA have created a monster which all us honest football fans have come to not trust and now laugh at their incompetence.
We now await their next decision, which will probably be made over a big dinner in Durban at the World cup draw.
I bet we get Poland and Scotland as two in our group, and Holland will maybe another team to be in our group.
We dont deserve to be seeded.

ARE we seeded? a team that cant even qualify for the european championship? that is truly a disgrace! i expect croatia and russia are both seeded as well then? and scotland for that matter...

yep as i said above i always held england virtually on a par with pompey but in recent years weve become a laughing stock - team dont fear us, they laugh at us and this is mainly down to the fa... now, and until things change dramatically i will want pompey to be above england any day of the week... even if we can restore some national pride, i reckon pompey will come first.

It was an incredible moment when Niko scored !
I used to think I was about even club/country, but it's been such a long time without an Pompey players in the England squad to test the theory, I didn't really know. Now I do know - definitely club first.
But part of that is wanting to have England players in our Pompey team - for some reason that's important to me - probably why I get so uptight when they don't get picked.

im not only supporting croatia next summer i really do think that if all their player pull in the right direction and they can show the right attitude and commitment, performing to their best they could win all 6 games that they would need too to win euro 2008!

I think the African cup should firtsly be every 4 years and be played May-June.

I agree storagematt but I would also like to add that it should also be played in Africa and so should the World Cup come to that .. oh and by the way somebody asked if we were seeded for the world Cup qualifiers.. the answer is no we are in the second pot along with Scotland so in a group that only the winner qualifies from we could be drawn against Germany, Holland, France, italy, Spain not looking good is it...
