'Arry admits an interest in Crouch

Okay its not really a secret that Harry Redknapp is a fan of Peter Crouch's, we have known this for some time, but he has admitted - in The Mirror - an interest in bringing the striker back to Pompey if he can: 'You will always be interested in someone like him. He is a great player and can be unplayable at times. He is a great lad and great to work with.

'He was fantastic in that year he had at Portsmouth. The club owe him a massive debt for what he did.

'We bought him for £1m and sold him for £5m. He scored 19 goals and without those goals they would probably have gone down.

'He kept the club going and for me he has been one of the main players for the last six or seven years'.

I will admit I was unsure when we first signed him but Crouch was fantastic for Pompey in the season - which was not even a full one! - he had with us in 2001/02, being voted player of the year despite having already been sold to Villa.

I know he is not to everyone's liking, but when we had him I always rated the fella and was impressed with his skills, as we all know now for such a big man he has a great touch, its just a shame that his heading - at goal anyway - is still as poor now as it was then.

Those that have been a part of this site for some time will know that I have had this feeling that Jermaine Defoe could be the striker we sign, which depending on how much he plays for Spurs between now and January could still be he case, but I have also admitted a liking for Crouchy so I would not be against this at all, nor would I bet against this happening.

Liverpool might look to 'cash in' but we would need to pay upwards of £10m to bring him back, which might be the problem, but to be honest I would welcome him back - what about you?

I'm not surprised, I expected us to sign Crouch in the summer transfer window, I've had a sneaky feeling he would be on his way here for some time. And I think he'd be a good signing for us. As well as the issue of his height, which would mean he would fit in well physically with the rest of the squad. After all Defoe would get mistaken for one of the mascots!

then kanu might try picking defoe up in a goal celebration like he did that ball boy at west brom a few years ago... yep i would welcome crouchy back here, tlaking of kanu hes the english version of him - altho nowhere near as lazy!

We need him more than you! Cracking player, i think there will be a bit of a bidding war for him.

True quote I read earlier today: An interviewer asked Peter Crouch "What would you be if you weren't a footballer?" And Crouch answered "A virgin." I like his honesty!

He'd be terrific if we could get him. Not at all sold on Defoe anymore. Attitude is everything and Crouch's seems beyond reproach.

defoe would be a terrible purchase for pompey. he has never fulfilled what potential he has. Where as Crouch has shown himself to be a huge success at international level. he also knows what a great club from his time with us before. i saw him score in an away defeat at Rotherham back in about 2001 and would have offered very large odds that night that a) he would ever be sold for £5m b) he would ever help relegate S C U M c) he would be sold for £7m d) he would play for England e) he would score for England f) he would would score regularly for england g) he would play in a Champions league final

Crouch ten million are you mad!!

i honesly dont rate the fella. he apears to be a less talented version of kanu - just as lazy but without the ability to do crazy, special things. Defoe has never impressed me either, he is selfish, a good finisher, but not much else, and he fancies himself too much. Lita would be nice, reunite hime with hos old strike partner - but other than that, i cant think of many people i would like to have that are english.
