'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We know how you feel 'arry...

Harry Redknapp has echoed the opinion that the vast majority of us have on this very site by what he has told the Pompey site today - in as much that he would be astounded if David James not only missed out on the no.1 spot for England against Croatia tomorrow, but missed out to Scott Carson: 'It's a massive shock really because David James has fallen out of the picture and I can't see what he's done wrong.

'He's the best goalkeeper in the country and a different class, so I find it a bit of a strange one to be honest.

'Don't get me wrong Scott Carson is a good keeper. But he couldn't get in the Liverpool team and they've let him go out on loan again'.

Even without James in goal Redknapp not only believes that England will go on to get the point - at least - that we need, but could also go on and win Euro 2008!

I am livid - and have been for several days - at the thought that James looks likely to not only miss out on the no.1 spot again, but looks like missing out to Carson who seems to have suddenly crept up from no.3 to no.1 with James now appearing to be below both Carson and Paul Robinson.

If James is overlooked again, and not even named on the bench I would love him to tell Spineless Steve were to stick it and the next time he comes squirming back remind him that he made his bed so he must now lie in it...

Anyway, enough on this, it will soon be Saturday and we know what that means - the most important thing, Pompey are back in action.

so hold on...the officially recognised number ONE keeper in the premiership for last season - and so far this season - cant even make it into the england SQUAD? Once again, this comes down to what steve mcclarens job is...but SURELY, he must have to pick the best team FOR ENGLAND. Not only is this an insult at david james - but also at pompey, as it shows that even if you were recognised as the number one player of your position in the world, you still wouldnt get a place in the squad. AND, ENGLAND fans deserve better. we deserve the BEST, not the future (but we want both). we can win now, and let aston villa develop him into the fantasitic player im sure he WILL be. for now, ill content myself in the knoledge that steve mcclaren will get fired for his team selections...wont he?

Robinson is bang out of form, we have known that for a year now, but Carson? good 'keeper, but he IS Liverpools reserve

Sadly, he won't get fired unless they lose tomorrow. Robinson has looked as if the M1 runs through his legs lately. Maybe McClown will suit up Downing as a goalie.

it looks as tho he is more likely to suit up downing as the keeper than jamo anyway doesnt it mate... im seathing at this, positively boiling over! what else does jamo need to do - apart from have incriminating evidence on spineless steve, which smith, downing and brown must clearly have to make the squad alone - to get the start his form with us and city before that deserves?

tell spineless where to stick it jamo - walk away with your head held high and focus purely on pompey from now on mate, you are always appreciated here!

Jamo will not walk away because he is not that type of guy. I like torontos comment about Downing, he has to find a slot for him somewhere in the squad. Carpet is right too as I have before Jamo is number one and should have number one on his back tomorrow!!

All the better for Pompey. At least Jamo won't get injured and they can't pin anything on him should things turn ugly. I'll be surprised if even a draw will be a cakewalk tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong but if I'm not, at least we'll be able to start over for South Africa 2010.

Its a ridiculous decision, for such a vital game he should suit up the player in best form and with the most experience (Jamo's both). Its funny that he starts experimenting with keepers on the last and most vital game of the tournament, it says a lot about him as a manager

Just when it looked like McLaren had found his brain.....he dropped it somewhere in Russia.....much like Robinson would in training. A key key match, and he makes a ridiculous decision like this? Stick one past him Kranky!

I think it is a huge risk to play Scott carson in such a big game. I'm also remembering Lua Lua's speculative shot at Charlton last season? Maybe McClaren doesn't want the job anymore?

i only wish spineless steve didnt want the job anymore mate... clearly i want england to qualify but im also edging more and more towards us wanting to lose tonight to spite the muppet in charge - and the muppets in charge of him, the fa... i cannot believe that carson has gone from no.3 - no.1, why, why, why is jamo not being given the start he has earned in such an important game? the confidence that jamo would install in the defenders ahead of him would be worth a goal in itself - he commands his area, isnt afraid to come for crosses - and when he does he rarely flaps at them, i know it has already been said that jamo isnt the kind to tell spineless where to stick it - which he isnt - but i wish he would...

Unbelievable! Carson is a promising keeper, but not ready for this. I hope I stop sulking before the match starts. Actually I can see why it would be great if Jamo told the Clown to stick it up his @ but . . . you have to be a bit savvy and political about these things, he would turn it round and make Jamo look the bad guy. I think Jamo enjoys being involved with England. To officially jack in the internationals is saying 'I don't want to be selected' or 'I'm not good enough/too old to be selected' neither of which is true. If McClown is going to drop him, make him do it openly and stand by his poor decision.

Green and Carson are the future, but for a huge game like this any manager with any sense would have realised that this is a new back four that might need bailing out, especially early on, and Jammo would be the best solution to this. Spineless could yet regret his decision.

as much as robbo isnt the right man for tonight i feel spineless might well regret the decision to drop robbo completely for tonight even more? spineless looks as tho he might be redeeming himself every now and again we all know that in the end he isnt the right man!

now what have i been saying about jamo being the no.1 :-) you cannot say 'it wouldnt have happened' if he was in goal... but it wouldnt have happened would it? would it...

Just read this article and thread after the event...it's now saturday morning and Carson has dropped the ball, were are out of the euros and Spineless has long been sacked ... Reading the comments cold I have one piece of advice to whoever takes over as the new England manager... READ THE COMMENT ON THIS SITE...had McClaren had done that James would have been in goal and we'd be planning a happy summer next year.. as I is I'm frantically trying to muster some interest to find a team that I'll support... ironically, because of Kranjcar.. it'll probably be Croatia !
