'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Birmingham tickets selling well

'Proper' football returns this weekend - thankfully! - with Pompey travelling to St Andrews for the game against Birmingham.

So far 1700 tickets have sold, but there are still more available so it is likely that we will take upwards of 2000 - or more - in total I would think...

Birmingham is one of the 'closer' grounds for me to get too and it was one that I had pencilled in, but with funds tight at the best off times and with Christmas coming up to be honest I cannot afford to go to this game as well... this is because I will be back in town for the Everton game at the fortress the weekend after and I am also going to Villa Park the weekend after that.

We just have the one last England game 'to get out of the way' tomorrow then attentions can be turned fully to this game as we look to keep our remarkable away record that we have this season going.

If you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this game with Birmingham do it here now, or before the game kicks off at the weekend.

yep i think its fair to say that im looking forward to pompey getting back to action... i see todays papers are saying that the brummies wanted 'arry as manager - please, leave a team transforming into something special for a team doing what we did for so many years struggling... someone was having a laugh!

Whilst they are in a bit of turmoil lets march in there grab all three points and then get out. We have an ideal opportunity for revenge for that 5-0 hammering that they gave us.
Owenspompey
yep revenge will be sweet! if we come away with nothing i will be amazed, its a sign of things tho and how they are going for us that if we dont win i will be disappointed...

I remember my only visit to St Andrews was a 1-0 defeat in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup about 1977, and first trip back from OZ. They were top flight and we were 2nd or 3rd division but we didn't deserve to lose that day. A Villa fan joined me at the game and made more noise than me. The 5-0 still hurts but Brum got relegated not us that season so it was more painful for them than us. Still, it is definitely not a happy hunting ground, but there again neither was Newcastle !

ive never been to st andrews myself - i was meant to go one year but our driver either came down ill the day of the game or we broke down on the way... i know these happened on occassions when a group of us were going ot games, i just cannot remeber what games these happened for - but i know birmingham was missed as a result for one of these problems...

Are any of the Vital contributers going? Not a bad journey for us up North, i just hope we can get a result and push on in the quest for Europe, and bloody revenge for that thrashing.
Owenspompey
well, we might go easy on them...seeing as harry was going to go up there...

Owenspompey, this is a game that i would have liked to have gone as its straight up the motorway for me - one of the easiest games for me to get to but i cannot afford this one, everton and villa all in a row - well not at the moment anyway, hopefully in the not to distant future this financial situation will change - so i'll just have to settle for the latter 2 fxtures for now, which will do me :-)
pompeyrug
Gray you are right we lost 1-0 on 8 January 1977 after beating the mighty Aldershot and Minehaed on the way to the third round. We were in Div 3 that year.

I wouldn't bother going to that pigsty! Women and children had bricks thrown at them when we were there. You'll never meet a nice bunch of knuckle dragging thugs!
DeanoVilla
too far to go to watch what i doubt will be a particually exciting game...close game, but we will underestimate them, they will be fired up after harrys snub :-) and we will not really try...
pompeycarpet
we will stuff 'em!

Looking forward to going to St Andrews, i hope Utaka and Kanu are fit, lets continue this good run and secure 3 more valuable points. Kapo looks to be the threat, get the 'Wardrobe' to look after him.
