What a kick in the 'nads that'll be

What a kick in the 'nads that'll be

Sometimes you get the impression that it is just not meant to be for you and surely if Spineless Steve does push on with the idea that Scott Carson could start the Croatia game on Wednesday David James will get this message once and for all...

I tire of saying how much I feel James is - and has been for the past 18 months - the best English keeper that we have, but no matter what he does - or others do! - he just cannot get the England no.1 shirt that he deserves, but if Carson is retained as the no.1 this week James will now be down to no.3!

It took Spineless Steve long enough to bring him back, but my thinking is he only did this to bow to the public pressure that was being heaped on him, it was not a move to rightfully install him as the no.1 - so although James is proud to be a part of the squad it does look as if his time is coming to an end - again!

It does not concern me that he is 37, he is a very young 37, so I would like nothing more than to see James stay as part of the squad for as long as possibly and 100% believe that he could not only be a part, but could be the no.1 for another good few years but its not going to happen so rather than being cast aside again I almost wish he would call it a day and concentrate purely on Pompey...

Amazingly Sol Campbell might also miss out too against Croatia as John Terry has apparently returned to the squad and looks as though he will be fit to face Croatia, so it is either Campbell or Joleon Lescott that will make way.

Campbell's experience would surely see him given the nod on an evening where no chances, or risks can be taken - which would also make Carson a starter seem a bold move by the otherwise 'spineless one'...

Niko Kranjcar though is looking to gatecrash the party and insists that Croatia will be looking for a win against England, a win that would send a message out to the other nations ahead of the Euro 2008 finals.

37 is very popular age to be - Edwin Van Der Sar is 37 have we heard about Manure or Holland ditching him? NO of course not. The best should be in the team every time and we know who the best goalkeeper is - shame Second-Choice Steve doesn't though. If he selects Lescott ahead of Sol for such a crucial game then it would be beyond belief!!

it really makes me angry that jamo was brought back into the squad but wont get a sniff carson is a fantastic keeper and will be the eventual no.1 but he is still only in his early 20s people like foster, carson, green and even robbo etc could learn so much from jamo, but he shouldnt be in the squad for his 'experience' alone - he should be the no.1.... if spineless does psuh jamo down to no.3 i would so much like him to turn round and tell him where he could stick his england call-ups - but then again that will do spinesless a favour as he wont have to worry about the 'public' getting on his back for keep on overlooking jamo... surely not even spineless could be so stupid as to take a risk on lescott over sol this week - can he...

Anyone with any sense at all could see that we need the safe hands of Jamo in goal on Wednesday - as well as his experience and professionalism, and the fact that he won't get in the least phased by the big occasion. Unfortunately Steve Mclaren doesn't have any sense! There is also talk that Sol might get dropped as well now that Terry is back. It leaves me with mixed feelings about England (maybe) qualifying after all because it means he won't get sacked now. That's because the FA haven't got any sense either.

im with you tracyc - when i see things like this happening - or not happening as the case may be - not just becuase they are pompey players i too - as much as i want us to qualify - think maybe, just maybe i dont want spineless steve to get what he needs this week... you never know, he might surprise us afterall and go for the sensible choice of jamo... but i dobut it!

I'm tired and bored of this debate (not on here, but generally). I am English through and through and despair at what has happened to our National Team. If Campbell does not play and Carson gets in before James I really hope Krunchy & Co show England how to play the game and embarass us (them) - 3-0 to Croatia and England not to qualify... If that's the price to get Spineless sacked I'd take it... my only worry would be that if we lost three-nil he still wouldn't be given to boot or they'd appoint another fool in his place ...urghhh makes my blood boil.. Sammy Lee anybody ?? - He about fits the bill

If Krunchy scores past Robinson or Carson I might even cheer (unless I'm watching in the pub - I might chicken out!) especially if Robinson spills it again. But part of me still thinks if we qualify then Sol & Jamo have longer to stake their claims for a regular place. It won't happen like that though will it?

If we have a crappy first half against Croatia, I will only cheer if Kranky gets one past Robinson.

steve mcclarens job is to win england trophies. it is not to "blood in" the younger players, its not to build a team for the future - thats stuart pearces job, and club managers job - and they are doing THAT well at the moment. All he has to do is pick the team that he thinks will go and win each match, as he gets to it - there is no such thing as international experiance, as internationals are played at a lower level than PL football (ok, maybe not brazil...but even they would probably loose to the top 4). Croatia have 3 or 4 very talented yougsters, and play as a team. there manager picks the players to win, and they do. Persoannly, i dont care about the future, i want to see us win stuff NOW.

John Terry says he fit and ready so he is in the team, who bloody picks the team?Campbell and Lescott or Campbell and Terry, but Sol must be picked surely. Jammo not playing is a disgrace but we have to get used to Robinson or Carson i'm afraid, if it all goes wrong we will have the satisfaction of saying i told you so.

I am sooooo *****ed off with this whole situation...I dont think u can posibbly deny Jamo the no1 spot on wednesday for three reasons.... 1. No english keeper is on better form, maybe green & foster are on par, but NOT better & Robinsons not even close... 2. He has more experiance than both green & foster have together making him unarguably top choice... 3. If Sol is in that back 4 then Jamo HAS TO BE top choice for a well know solid premiership defensive partnership, of which their is no other in the prem!!!! *****in spinless needs to read this...that is if he wants to win football matches!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH......calm...1....2...3.......

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.

Simply not good enough!

Call me a moaner, call me a groaner but if you think the performance against Orient was good enough then I think you're wearing blue tinted specs as that was poor from Pompey.
