Give McClaren a post with the saints

Give McClaren a post with the saints

Steve McClaren should not only leave his post with England, but he should also take up an advisory position with the saints! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from The Rabbi's poll are thoughts I semi agree with.

I would agree I do want Spineless Steve to relinquish his post with England, but where his next post is and what it is does do not really concern me - so long as it is not with Pompey!

To be honest I do not really have anything to add on this poll, its pretty conclusive in its findings that in some shape or form most think he should go, but I do feel that I have said more than enough about the fella over the weekend so I have nothing to add in article format on Steve McClaren...

What the poll asked - In the words of The Clash, should Steve McClaren stay or should he go?

How you voted - Join Southampton in an advisory role 56%, Go 37%, Stay 7%

Current Poll - Most of us agree that players will be signed in January, most also agree one will be a striker but we also feel that a winger to supply them is needed...

There has been some talk of a move for Nathan Dyer, but most seems to be focusing around Jonas Gutierrez and Andres D'Alessandro, but which one of the latter, if any will it be - this is what pompeyrug wants to know with this - 'who are Pompey most likely to sign?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

It would be tragic if Spineless was thrust upon our neighbourrs downd the road. Okay i am a liar, it would be fantastic, and just enhance the speed of their demise which Burley is slowly but surely doing. Just think Downing, Mendieta and Boetang playing for them, roll on Division 2 or 3. The sad thing is McLaren will walk into another job when he is sacked, he just becomes another name on the manager merry go round, linked to every job, probably the Birmingham job next!! I respected Bruce, but this is money talking, and the Brummies deserve better than this, reminds me of our big upheavels a couple of seasons ago, that nearly got us relegated and you begin to fear for them.

i reckon you are right about spineless probably just walking into another job when the fa finally see sense and get rid - god help whoever it will be... is the brummies changing managers, or at least losing their's going to be a good thing ahead of the weekend or not tho...

McClaren won't need another job for at least a year or two yet - Win, lose or draw on Wednesday the FA won't sack him... but I think you are right Owens when he does (eventually) go he will just be another manager on the merry-go-round. As for Bruce I don't blame him wanting the Wigan job, he's been mucked around for so long now he has to look after his own interests .. Good timing though... It will probably unsettle the Brum for Saturday..

Isn't this Bruce's second stint at Wigan. I think he stuck at Brum for longer than his numerous others; Wigan, Huddersfield, Sheff United, Palace....have I left anyone out? Liked him as a player - can't stand him as a manager.

agree tim as a manager i dont know what all th hype is about bruce, i dont think he has done much - if anything - to earn it... yep, he was with wigan for a brief while before he was lured away for a 'bigger' job as he constantly seemed to do before he settled with the brummies... i do agree that they have treated him pretty poorly recently so its no surprises that he has decided to accept the challenge at wigan - he will do well to keep them up tho, both clubs look like they might go anyway?

I feel we would be more sympathetic if we knew Bruce was going to get the push, i bet that the power of Mr Whelans purse was a big influence in the decision. Compare the two clubs, not really much to think about really is there? Remember Bruce has previous for this.

mr whelan has trebled his wages apparently... if whelan was in control of the club when he screwed them over before i would be very surprised - as surely he wouldnt have taken him back?

Bruce bottled it at Palace and Wigan, but they just seem to get rewarded for their actions. And managers then criticise players for their actions, pot, kettle, black spring to mind,

a fair and valid point Owens - something that bruce would do well to remember himself next time he goes down this route with a player - if he does...
