'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's Benji all the way

Benjani will be the top scorer for Pompey when the transfer window comes round! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from tozopompey's poll are thoughts I completely agree with.

It was a landslide - but in all honesty no one else is really going to be able to challenge Benjani in the goalscoring department between now and January are they? - I do not fell so anyway as I am certain that he will keep scoring even if others are as well.

I have had complete faith that with the right players alongside and around him he would eventually score the goals and now he is. We have always backed him but every time he finds the back of the net now we enjoy it even more don't we - it sticks two big fingers up at those that scoffed at him before.

If we do eventually revert to two up front - as I feel we will more often than not at home from now on - if this partner can be scoring regularly, which will aid Benjani too, god only knows how many goals he could end up with this season! 15 is his aim for the season, with 8 so far given another real purple patch he could be closing in on this by Christmas...

Benjani to end the season as the leagues top goalscorer? How crazy people would have thought you were - even the most ardent of Pompey fans - just several months ago if you had suggested this, but I would not bet against it, in actual fact I have not as I have recently put my money where my mouth is on this very theory!

What the poll asked - Who will be the clubs highest goal scorer before the January transfer window?

How you voted - Benjani 80%, Kanu 9%, Nugent 6%, Kranjcar 4%, Utaka 1%

Current Poll - We recently voted in favour of England not being able to qualify - even though the vast majority of us would clearly want this - and as a result Spineless Steve should go, but we have doubts as to whether he actually would...

Most peoples comments towards Spineless Steve would suggest that he should go, but to clarify things we have a nice simple poll, should he stay or should he go - this is what The Rabbi wants to know with this - 'In the words of The Clash, should Steve McClaren stay or should he go?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

Yep, bit of a no brainer this one....due to his so far superb finishing Benji's got a nice lead over the rest of our scorers (and the rest of the divisions). Factor in also that he's likely to start every match regardless of whether we have one or two up front, and no-one's realistically gonna catch him. Can really see him getting fifteen or more this season....never thought I'd be saying that at the start of the season (even suspected Nugent would be a more likely candidate to get 'em!).

Just noticed Benji's top of the strikers list on the Actim index (a mile ahead of Adebayor who's next), and second overall. Quality! I love that that index recognises a players' overall contribution during matches as well as goals. Keep it up Benji!

I am pleased for the man, and i must be honest i doubted his ability as a finisher after his start for us. I am glad that he proved me wrong, and i hope that David Nugent starts to do the same soon.

Yep it's great innit with Benji doing so well it makes everybody sit up and take notice of Pompey (which isn't always a good thing though) ... Long may it continue I say if he can finish the premierships top scorer how good would that be.. everybody would want to buy him ..but we've got him on a long contract ..nice one 'arry

Another though.. If the attention turns to Benji in Africa then that means thatt not only will Pompeys fan base widen (which is always a good thing) but it might mean we start to attract even more top class african players - They love Kanu as a god ... maybe Benji can enjoy the same status eh ! - Can only be good for Pompey

benji has always been well known throughout african hasnt he - for obvious reasons - but i also noticed recently that he could be in the running for african footballer of the year! if that doesnt raise his stock - thus helping pompey too - nothing will...

i love it when people say how well pompey are doing - gives me a real sence of pride! benjani has been hailed so far this season with so many accolades, its almost as if people dont reaslise he is the same guy! just shows what good service and a bit of confidence can do!

Go Benji go. A bit of a no brainer really. Let's hope he can get 20 in the league. That would be some doing.

20 goals would be fantastic wouldnt it - i wouldnt bet against it either now tbh...

I certainly hope he carries on scoring the goals for you this season. He was a huge gamble for me when I put him in my fantasy team. Well done and keep it up.

this is the 1st year since he's been with pompey that i didnt pick him in my fantasy football team - any of them... what a fool i was!
pompeyrug
... the thing that makes it all the more foolish, this was the season that i had most faith could be 'his season!'
