Primus' Pompey career in jeopardy
The future of Linvoy Primus - at the very least with Pompey anyway - now hangs in the balance after further surgery on his troublesome knee injury.
He underwent surgery in the summer, which was meant to have rectified the problem however he still had problems and underwent a second procedure, but still the problem was not cleared, so in order to not only try and save his Pompey career, but probably save his career full stop he flew to America to visit renowned specialist Dr Richard Steadman.
Primus underwent surgery yesterday and will now spend 3 weeks rehabilitating in Steadman's clinic in America, before flying back to England.
If anyone can save his career it is Steadman, who has worked with many of the worlds top sports stars, particularly footballers with Alan Shearer, Michael Owen and former Pompey stars Patrick Berger and Svetoslav Todorov among the people he has worked on, probably saving the careers of them all...
Even if this surgery can clear up Primus' knee problem he could still be facing the end of his Pompey career, as in order to gain his year extension he has to play 20 games this season so with the time that it will take to recuperate and then force his way back into the side - which will be a challenge in itself - things are not looking good?
However, as many have found out in the past you would be foolish to write off Primus, as he has been written off so many times in his career, several times alone during his 7 year stay with Pompey.
You do not get many nicer people than Primus so I sincerely hope that he can recover fully and also pull on the Pompey shirt again - if you can find any Pompey fan who would not wish the same I would be absolutely amazed!
