'If It's Football, It's Vital'

13 out of 18 pts is the Pompey aim

Pompey will win 13 points from the next 18 points on offer! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeycarpet's poll are thoughts that I completely share, well nearly - I think we might get even more...

With games coming up against Man City (h), Birmingham (a), Everton (h), Villa (a), Spurs (h) and Liverpool (a) - all before Christmas - it is looking good for the 13 points minimum that we are expecting, which equates to 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat - fair enough eh?

To be honest, not that I am expecting it or taking it for granted or a given, I could see us going through all 6 unbeaten but on paper the Liverpool away game would be the one that most 'could' see as the one to lose? But you never know.

What the poll asked - How many points will Pompey get in there next 6 games?

How you voted - win most of them (13pts) 51%, do quite well (8pts) 34%, win them all! (18pts) 9%, do badly (3 pts) 3%, disaster (0pts) 3%

Current Poll - The current famous 5 midfield of Niko Kranjcar, Sulley Muntari, Sean Davis, Papa Bouba Diop and John Utaka have earned a lot of praise this season - and rightly so.

This midfield quintet have been one of the key areas behind our season as it has been, but which of then is most 'vital' - nice pun, this is want PompeyGleamer wants to know with this - 'who's the most "vital" to the success of our team?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

sorry lads , I reckon it'll be 12 maximum!
merlin
13 pts is a big ask. Happily take it but this is a tough set of games. I expect Man City, Aston Villa & Everton to be in top top 6-10 sides. Liverpool away will obviously be tough. My fear is that this poor Spurs team will vastly improve in the 5 weeks under their new management. Brum away I expect to win. 4 wins, 1 draw & 1 defeat is a huge ask. 8pts is realistic, 10pts will be excellent, anymore & it's start looking for your passport time.
storagematt
im always optimistic - maybe overly - but if we get anything less than 10 pts i will be surprised... tbh as i have said i still think we could go through til christmas on our current unbeaten run so could get at least 13 - lucky for us!
pompeyrug
i would be delighted with that, it depends on injurys and suspensions aswell, sulley is on 4 i think, and so he is inevitable going to be miss on of those games.
PompeyGleamer
I agree gleamer that would be a great result 13 points, and by Harrys reckoning 5 points from safety, we could really push on then couldnt we.
Owenspompey
offer me 13 points now, andill bite your hand off!!! 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss is a very big ask, considering the oposition that we are playing - although if we can win all our home games, and get good results in our away games, then it shouldnt be too bad. that said, i still doubt we will make it - birmingham look the only team even half likely to drop points, and considering our record against struggling teams, even that will be a test.
pompeycarpet
you never know. i think that we can win all our home games, the trip to liverpool really depends on raffas tactics to be fair, cant wait to see torres! and then birmingham, who arent a great team, but are at home,
PompeyGleamer
remember watford last season? need i say more. all the games will be tough tests - and i have a feeling that if we can keep up our momentum, we will glide through. if not, then we will collapse. simple as that.
pompeycarpet
as well as i reckon we can do from these games i will settle for 3pts against city tomorrow to start us off...
pompeyrug
sorry carpet, i disagree, why would we collapse? we had a poor game agasint west ham, then a defeat agasint blackburn, where we had a strong side and played rubbish, then go to st james park and played like gods. and ironically more so in the second half
PompeyGleamer
our home fom hasnt been great, and if we drop points again against man city, then our beleif will plumit, benji will stop scoring, and suddenly, we will be going into away games against villa and liverpool thinking "are we really this good?".
pompeycarpet
once again, look back to last season. we had a fantastic start, but then we had some very poor results after christmas, the beleif dropped, and it just seemed like we were never going to make it past the 40 point mark.
pompeycarpet
I agree with you pompeycarpet all the gams will be hard and i think 12 is realistic, 13 would be good, its just, I WANT ALL EIGHTEEN FQKING POINTS
russellm
no no no. benji will stop scoring!!? he missed a penalty in stoppage time and hte week after he was rated as unplayable and scored a fantastic goal! we havent lost a league game at home in 10 games! and our belief? getting knocked out in the last 16, dropping two points in stoppage time and that didnt knock our ''belief''! and last season, we werent great on the road to begin with, and we missed out the strong teams at the start, so carpet mate, please stop always being negative! it does my head in! mabye if you actually go to a game you willl see that we arent as bad as you saY we are!
PompeyGleamer
im not saying we are bad...its just that i like being surprised when we win, and having the excuses ready for if we loose, its win win for me :-). as for beleif, im still getting used to the idea of pompey actually WINNING games in the PREMIERSHIP. Whilst i havnt supported them my whole life (oh how i was missing out), i always knew that they were behind southampton...
pompeycarpet
haha, fair dos, if tahts the case, put money on pompey losing, so its a win win situation whatever the result!
PompeyGleamer
unfortunatly, we drew, so i dont get the money, and we didnt win. doh!
pompeycarpet
not the result i expected but its another game unbeaten we will have to win the other 4 and only lose to liverpool - even tho i really do think we can go to anfield and pick up a point! if we keep playing like we are away from home and dont go ultra defensive we could even win...
pompeyrug
i didnt expect a draw either, straightfoward win to be honest, this really has annoyed me, the perfomance of utaka has aswell!, just read your article rug that utatka will be staying, DOh! if he left, matty would return, nugent will have a better chance at starting, this means that we have all our strikers now! so perhaps we wont be seeing another, not happy tbh
