Spineless announces his final squad?

Spineless announces his final squad?

Spineless Steve has announced what could turn out to be his final England squad for the friendly with Austria, then the final Euro 2008 qualifier with Croatia - and it includes David James and Sol Campbell once again.

James and Campbell had both been in all his squads since their recalls after over a year in the cold, but despite such cries for James to be given the no.1 spot he has so far not managed it - surely his time will come now and he will start one, if not both games...

Campbell had not been able to make a playing return until last month when he played in both of the Euro 2008 games with Estonia and Russia - being absolutely fantastic against Russia - so he is a near certainty to start the Croatian game, with both Rio Ferdinand - suspension and John Terry - injury missing out, but I would expect him to sit out the friendly with Austria before this - as he cannot afford to miss the qualifier, assuming it is still relevant at that point?

Glen Johnson and Sean Davis will have to wait for another time for their recalls, although to be honest neither were realistically going to make it this time were they, well maybe Johnson could have?

David Beckham proved his fitness by coming through a 'gruelling' charity game in America last week, so he is back.

But most importantly of course the priceless commodities that are Wes Brown, Stewart Downing and Alan Smith are included - phew I worried for a minute this key trio would miss out...

Do you think Jamo will actually get the chance he deserves this time, or will McClaren just carry on with Robinson regardless?

Pretty hard to figure isn't it HenryW15. He looked like the Berlin Wall against Pompey a couple of weeks back & is surely the best young keeper England has, so why not bring him along ? On the other hand, any young goalie with big future plans may not even want to be in a deck chair on the Titanic.

Green did have a good game against us, but didn't James in that match as well? And against Newcastle - and Fulham and . . .

Sorry to be a merchant of doom, but I think all this is really bad for Jamo's focus. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a poor game on Sunday. I really hope not though!

Toronto the Berlin wall was dmolished in 1989 perhaps that is why Green missed out ;-) tbh nothing makes sense with Spineless squads form counts for nothing as Rug says the same old players appear every time. Green was good against us, for sure, as HR would say but he has to produce that form for 12 months to make the squad as Jamo proves. But once in the squad it dosn't matter how bad you are you will stay in as Robinson proves!!

Dave, tbh, Green has been in superb form since towards the end of last season. Accepting Jamo is #1, it's beyond belief that Green's not in the squad. Utterly astonishing that Brown, Downing and Smith are in the squad. Beckham's inclusion is a joke, especially as McClown was effectively the one who sent him into exile after the World Cup. Part of me hope they fail miserably, if only to get rid of McClown but the patriot in me wants them to succeed.

he hasnt leart from his mistakes, as only monly picked barry becuase of media pressure, and sol becasue of injuries. he has his set of 11 playors, and loves them to bits. he wont accept that he is wrong, and so will never be a good manager. jamo wont play, gree wont when mclaren is manager (not long to go!!!), and jamo will only when someone is injured.

Spineless has done it again, why Beckham is in the squad, only the manager knows, he is probabaly justifying his jolly to the USA. Downing is another joke, you could almost believe he plays for Boro. Without Rooney we will struggle, i am dreading that weekend, and i can see us not winning and Russia getting the result that they need.

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
