Kranjcar the main man for October

Niko Kranjcar was Pompey's the player of the month for October! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I completely share.

I have - as has Harry Redknapp and so many of you - waxed lyrical on Kranjcar recently, so it was little wonder he was voted the star performer from last month as he was absolutely fantastic.

He came with a big reputation last year, and after initially finding it a little difficult to settle he worked on his fitness and his all-round game to become one of the most complete midfielders in the premier league.

Kranjcar has been fantastic, but he will get even better, he is a midfielder that is destined for stardom.

What the poll asked - 'Pompey's player of the month for October?'

How you voted - Niko Kranjcar 45%, Benjani 24%, David James 9%, Sylvain Distin 7%, Glen Johnson 3%, Papa Bouba Diop 3%, Sean Davis 3%, Sulley Muntari 3%, Sol Campbell 1%, Hermann Hreidarsson 1%, Other 1%

Current Poll - We managed to pick up 16 points out of the last 18 on offer, could we do the same - or better - from the next 6 games.

Had Benjani not missed the injury time penalty against West Ham we would have won all 6 of our previous 6 games, but what are we expecting from the next 6, this is want pompeycarpet wants to know with this - 'how many points will Pompey get in there next 6 games?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

rightly so!!! crunchys been great this season! he reminds me a little of Joe Cole in the facted hes got bags of skill, but need to tone it down to become a great team player!...poor old matty...:(

proud to be croat bravo niko
andycroat28
England vs Croatia at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 21 November 2007.... before that Fratton park, 11/11/2007 Portsmouth vs Man City---- Niko against Vedran Corluka ...what events
andycroat28
im sure that you are andycroat28 and rightly so... england will have to watch him when we play, but so will city this sunday!
pompeyrug
pompeyrug- you told me that you remember when i said about niko, than i told you about Eduardo da silva, now he is in Arsenal, and about Luka Modric, he is still in Dinamo Zagreb, but he is 21 years old, he is perfect... this winter he will came in arsenal or chelsea who knows maybe in portsmouth(my wish)..he is probably better than niko and he is regulary in National team
andycroat28
You're right, your choice not mine. Yes he is doing better but not sure on the best player in October. No one stood out at Fulham & Wigan, we did a good job, held firm at the back & scored we needed it. West Ham was stale, Blackburn was poor to average & that leaves Newcastle, where quite a few played fantastically. Am I missing something?
storagematt
meet Luka Modric http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aUGD3IkVaA fantastic player for us
andycroat28
andycroat28, yep you did say eduardo was one to watch - i must admit i thought he was fantastic for croatia but worried about his ability to adapt to the premier league, as with respect the croatian league isnt the same level - and his goals rate over there was amazing... but he seems to be doing the business with arsenal too. i will keep a look out for this modric fella.
pompeyrug
storagematt, in the games that we were good to average i still thought he stood out - newcastle was in november tho dont forget :-) all were stale against west ham but tbh i thought he was the best player on the park against blackburn when we were poor, he was one of only a couple that came out with any credit - but like i say i thought he was the best player...
pompeyrug
Hats off to Niko, he's been classy in this run of performances and is comfortably keeping Matty T out of the side at the moment. Who needs D'Alessandro eh?
Tantona
what a legend!! Cant wait for the england vs croatia!
PompeyGleamer
the croatians turn out very talented playors for the size of the country! i only wish the english could have more playors of the same quality. the england croatia game will be VERY intresting...2-1 croatia, england out, McClaren fired, stuart pearce to take over as england manager.
pompeycarpet
i hope croatia win 2 - 0, mclaren sack, james has a great game, penalty save, campbell faultless and everyone will be happy!
PompeyGleamer
Yep, the job as they say, would be a good 'un.....as long as the FA don't come sniffing around Arry afterwards....
Tantona
as long as Mclaren gets sacked by the end of the game I will be happy, and the pompey players have a good game and dont get injured.
PompeyGleamer
Don't care about the result unless Israel can somehow managed to beat Russia .. but as long as Pompey players don't sustain any injuries I'll be happy
Chix
honestly, they said he would be sacked if we failed to make the tournament. we havbe left it out of our hands - so as far as im concerend, we failed! he has quite simpley, got to go. anyone who the fans dislike so much can not be good for english football.
pompeycarpet
He was terrific but Distin should get the honour in my books. He's been absolutely superb back there and seems to do the little things that every manager would love to see in a defender.
Toronto4Pompey
for POMPEYCARPET- croatia in the past always had talented players boban(milan), suker(sevilla, real, arsenal), prosinecki, bilic(everton), boksic (juventus, lazio..), stimac(west ham)..dado prso(monaco,rangers)... croatia was 3th in france '98, in england '96 beat germany 3:0, never lose the match against Italy... but what is now important that portsmouth win vs manc.city
andycroat28
yep 1st things 1st eh andycroat28 lets get pompeys win over city out of the way, then we can turn attentions to england v croation and sol and maybe jamo - possibly others? - v kranjcar...
pompeyrug
i hope kranjcar has a blinder, boosts his profile.
