Hermann v Pamarot, seconds out...

Hermann Hreidarsson has missed the last couple of games with a groin problem, but he is looking as if he should be fit for the weekend game with Man City - but will he get back in...

After his first few games Hreidarsson looked, lets be honest, terrible. I could not wait to get him out of the side but he has since been fantastic, he has settled into the side and knows his role and has excelled, both offensively and defensively.

His injury gave Matty Taylor a chance - or so we thought. Instead Noe Pamarot was given the opportunity to play at left back, but he failed miserably against Blackburn... but then again not many did do well in that game.

Taylor came in at half time and did very well, but Harry Redknapp stuck with Pamarot, surprisingly at the time, but he scored a screamer against the barcodes last weekend to open the scoring, but he also had a very good game.

Now Redknapp is faced with a difficult decision. I would like to think that Hreidarsson would not be 'expecting' to walk straight back into the side, but can we afford to leave him out?

If Pamarot is taken straight back out again it would be more than a little harsh on him, but you have to go with the better players, 'sentiment' or 'fairness' does not get you to where you want to be does it...

To be honest I would not want to be the one telling Pamarot he would not be playing if Hreidarsson is fit this weekend, but as he is a naturally left sided player I think that I would put him back in, but I would do it with a heavy heart.

So come on then, if fit who is it to be then fellas - Pamarot or Hreidarsson?

Well I reckon Hreidarsson's done well lately but he is not the best left back in the world, lets face it. But he's played most of the last few years in teams Going Down (I think) so maybe he needs extra time to adapt to a team which isn't a bunch of crap. I reckon on balance that Hermie should return with the knowledge that NP is waiting in the wings (along with Matty, Djimbo and even Crainie, Linvoy or Duffy) Can't help, can it?

I love herman! great character, good man, but paramot had a superb game! If i was harry, i would keep picking paramot, until he has a poor game, but harry should tell herman that one slip up, and herman should come straight back in the team.

i think harry doesnt care about players feelings. linvoy, who in my view, was player of the season, has been rejected, i cant remember the last time i heard his name. harry goes on about, ''he would never swap his defnce with anyones'' and always gos on about sylvain, quite understandable, but never linvoy, im my view Sylvain should play LB, which he can. and bring back Optimus Primus when back from injury!

Pamorot deserves to keep his place purely because of that goal at Newcaslte!

must (entirely) disagree pompeygleamer. Firstly, Linvoy has been injured. he looked like he was about to make his return to the team, having played well in reserve games, but then got injured again. Sylvain is a great centre back. However, he is not a full back. playing him there would be like playing caragher there. it is much better to play someone who is slightly worse defensivly there but much better going forwads. defensivly, the 3 main options (noe, herman and matty) are all pretty much the same. its just who is better going forwards?

Its good for you that you have two players in form fighting for a starting place.

dont like hp sauce anyway... i love optimus primus, he is one of my favourite players but he has been injured hasnt he. now that he is fit again - or nearly - it will be hard for him to get back in, but if/when he does he wont let us down...

tis a headache for 'arry - but a good headache, there are 4 players that could easily fill this left back area and do a job, along with another fella that is currently out on loan, spoiled for choice arent we! as storagematt says the winner - pompey!

Who is better Noe or Herman was the question. My answer is Matty Taylor, but I can't see hin getting a shout .... Noe has done fine (great goal as well) Herman should not walk straight back in.. It'll send out the wrong nessage.

Pamorot, is a frustraiting defender. Has all the attributes to be the bees knees, but he isn't consistent enough. When he played for Tottenham he was always hot and cold. Quality goal at the weekend though. I f you lot don't want Matty Taylor im sure Tottenham can find a place for him!!

I think Pamort is a great because of his versitility, it adds dimention to his game. I dont think hes the best at any of our defensive positions, but the fact he can play in every one of them makes him a fantastic guy to have at the club. I think he really struggles with tall players...i.e. cruz & macarthy on Wendsday night!

It's a difficult decision really, the Munster has been outstanding (after the first few games as you said), and Pamarot has put in some great performances in various positions across the back. Pamarot surely deserves the nod after his screamer at St James'!

Yep, I love the fact that harry has defensive issues, but the right ones this time! Paramot should start

I'd keep Pamarot in there, simply because it seems to be Arry's policy to not mess with the team when it's working well. To change that policy now would really ***** off people like Matty (who should still see a lot more time out there if you ask me, even if it's only off the sub's bench).

either: a) paromot stays in or b) matty comes in. whenecver he has come on, he has played well, but you cant change a winning side - it is just unreasnable. the only change will be pedro for diop (what an awful change that is!)
