Songo'o out on loan to Palace

Pompey winger Franck Songo'o has joined Palace on loan - initially for a month, but this could be for longer. He is also straight into their squad that play tonight.

To be honest I was fairly impressed with the fella during pre season - but that is a different level - and had hoped this would give him a bit of a chance this season, but that has not been the case. I had certainly expected him to play some part in the league cup, but again he has not.

Although he still has a chance it probably will be hard for him to maintain a long-term future with Pompey, but he is only 20. He does need first team football though, so getting this with Palace will give him a chance and if he can impress this will not go unnoticed at Pompey.

It is certainly a move that will be in the best interests of all concerned, that much is for sure.

i thought he impressed from pre-season, but I have relations from preston and they were critical about him when he was at preston. but like you sed, he is only 20!

he has come on leaps and bounds - and as he is only 20, he could still play a big part in the future ofthe club. is he going to the ACoN? if not, that could be his chance...
pompeycarpet
nope he will be here. i too had that thought carpet - if he does well on loan he might get a shot in january...
pompeyrug
is he french?
pompeycarpet
his dad was the cameroon keeper in the 90 world cup. i think he was born in cameroon but raised in france - either way i know he has played for france at some level, u21 i believe... as ive said before tho, you dont get picked up by barcelona - as he was - if you are a mug do you. i watched 20-25 minutes of the palace game yesterday and he looked lively again.

Carpet - he was born in Cameroon but eligible to play for France as he represented them at under-19 level when at Barcelona I think. Made his debut for Palace against Watford last night and nearly scored !! - I hope this moved (although only a month initially) doesn't mean we have seen the end of Franck as I too think he has a bright future at Pompey

i have this feeling - maybe miss guided - that he will be with palace until christmas, play some regular football and return to maybe play a part in january...

I doubt that we will ever see frank again....

He showed some nice touches last night as well. But Watford appear to be steamrollering the Championship at the mo.

yep i agree mate, like i said in the 20-25 mins or so that i watched he looked good, so in theory the more he plays the better he should get... i still reckon he is going to be a very good player so do hope that we keep hold of him and he does get a chance.
pompeyrug
Good luck to him, first team footie always better than reserves.

Rabbi ... I share your fear mate.... (but hope I'm wrong!)
