Getting carried away - and why not!

Getting carried away - and why not!

I started thinking, on my way to finally getting my problematic tooth sorted out - after fleecing me for all I was worth and giving me an abscess under a filling the dentist had put in, when I wanted the tooth out to begin with, he finally agreed to remove it - so as I say I was on my way and I just started thinking and writing...

Pompey are flying, we really are and we must be loving it, so why not make the most of it - I know I am, I am probably getting a little carried away too.

We are on our best run of top flight results in 55 years, granted we have spend much of this time outside of the top flight, but with the league tougher than ever surely this glory has to be basked in!

I am not stupid enough to think that we will never lose again, but I really do go into every game now expecting not to loseā€¦ and although this is again not something that I think will happen - not anytime soon anyway! - my attentions have actually turned to the thought that we 'might' one day win the league again - something I never, ever thought possible in my lifetime, but as unlikely as it might be it is a possibility one day.

Missing out on the uefa cup for this season probably was a good thing, but if we do not make it this season I will be a touch disappointed, this is how far my belief in the club has grown.

Fair enough, the first stop is '40 points' but then it is a real uefa cup charge, via the league or cups - but I still reckon the league cup could be ours this season. Then after this one day champions league football would be the dream - and a dream that again is not unrealistic for the future.

I am loving this journey and how the pride and passion I feel with following Pompey has never been greater, but I am also 'pleased', if that is the right word to have witnessed some of the darkest hours in this clubs history too - not as many as most of you - but having followed the team 'when we were s**t' and through some of the times when we were on the brink of closure this makes the times now all the better, which makes me all the prouder of where we are - and where we could go yet!

It is amazing to think how far we have come in the last ten years from the brink of closure and players like Kit Symons donating to save us to the position we are in now. We have to take each season as it comes, get to the magic 40 points and then begin to dream. However we all want Pompey to win a big trophy and get into Europe and have Thierry Henry up front for us because we are a big club. You are so right though mate what a ride the last few seasons have been, but i am now so proud to be a Pompey fan, and give up my weekends and evenings to watch them, the planning and swopping of shifts is so worth it.

I hope this optimism continues to when we take out game to St. James Park in November. Also, if we beat West Ham, Redknapp should take the manager of the month award.

Lysimachus - Good shout about manager of the month but Mr Wengar might have something to say if Arsenal beat Liverpol at the weekend, it could be tough deciding between the two. As for basking in the glory.. yeah lets do it, it's great to see us were we are and also to have the premierships top scorer too to boot! I say all this of course with my usual 'feet on the ground' moto ;)

Rug - I'm worried about those teeth of yours - I mean... once they are sorted where are you going to go to lie back and come up with ideas for articles... Surely your dentist can 'invent' another problem just to drain the few final pennies from your pocket ! - He must be a millionaire by now!

It is a fantastic time to be a Pompey supporter. Like most if you have seen the blues thru the long, long, long years of bollox. The dire 70s, a few highlights in the 80s & a few in the early 90s. So after 25 years of die hard support, very little to warm the heart, especially with the scummers always above us. The last 5 seasons have been brilliant & long may they continue. If you can't enjoy now, you never will. If you have suffered in the lower divisions for so long you are entitled to enjoy being at the top table.

Chix, i think he has fleeced me for all he can now... i went and saw him in march and even then first thing i said was 'it needs to come out', he was having none of it, put a temp filling in and sent me away - all was fine until that came out... he then put in another temp filling and agreed to fill it and do some 'other' work. had that done, then the abscess came up, went back last week got the pills in today had the bugger taken out - one of the big beasties at the back too, sore as hell now... as for coming up with others ideas, im sure i will find some quality time when i can lie back and think of some... i might be inspired when on my train journey to pompey this weekend? it'll be a long old journey so i should have plenty of 'inspirational time'...

Still have to admit I do have to rub my eyes when I am watching Pompey these days. But good or bad we would all still be there! One of the best moments was when we were actually shown as a first game on MoTD......

thats the key point mate 'good or bad we would all still be there' and we would, i bet you anything that the vast majority of the fans that we have now would still be fans even if we were 'crap' of course there are some that wouldnt, but most have been and always will be...

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.
