Vital Fantasy Football - 'Pompey mini league'

After the latest round of Premiership matches of the 2007/08 season the current leader in the Vital Fantasy Football 'Pompey mini league' is The Pompey Chimes on 337 points, who retains top spot for a 2nd week running. Crazy Cats has 322 points, so also retains 2nd spot for a 2nd week running and another non-mover is Always Victory, with 297 points in 3rd for a 2nd week running.

Both The Pompey Chimes and Crazy Cats are in the top 50 of over 4000 entries overall - in 16th and 36th places respectively - congratulations fellas, that really is some effort.

'Pompey predictions league'

It was another good week most of us in the Pompey Predictions League for the Wigan game - most were right with their win predictions, with some also right with at least one of the goalscorers and a couple also getting the right score.

paultsmouth, linvoyforengland and wideblueyonder were the highest points scorers this week with 6 points each - all predicted a 2-0 Pompey win, also having Benjani as a goalscorer.

Chix's 2 points this week sees him move onto 28 points overall, so he retains top spot for a 5th week running. 4 points from pompeyrug - me - meant 2nd spot was retained for a 4th week running and the gap closed, with a total of 26 points overall. paultsmouth's 6 points sees a climb from 6th - 3rd overall, with 24 points in total.

If you missed out on predicting for the Wigan match, as well as any others it is never too late - just start with your predictions for the next with West Ham at Fortress Fratton this Saturday. So if you have not already made your predictions on this match with West Ham do it here.

West Ham. They could make it difficult for us & pinch a draw. Obviously want us to win, we may nick it by an odd goal.

ummm.... I'm a bit worried about predicting the West Ham game. On one hand I can see our attacking play ripping them to pieces (Sunderland should have mullered them on Sunday) but on the other hand they might come for a draw and try and stiffle our midfield which could leave Benjani a little isolated up front on his own - The problem we've got now is that other teams have seen how we play in a 433 so could try and plan to stop us playing rather than playing their own game ... especially when they are away from home... Oh well I'll see what the injury news is on Friday and make my prediction then..

i will make mine now - pompey to win again, 3-1 this and will get this in the prediction league later in the week... i am traveling down to cosham on saturday, should get in about 2.30ish, knowing that i would still have time to get to the match i would love to go - it is so tempting, but as im also going to the league cup match im not sure i can afford both - hate sitting on my own too! altho the last time i went we won 7-4 didnt we!
23/10/2007 13:39:00
Go on Rug, it's only money, cant beat that pompey feeling! lol
23/10/2007 17:42:00
i have gone 2-1, but you could be right pompeyrug. Mid table obscurity for me in the predictions league and i missed a couple. I'm doing quite well on my £10 a week bet as well, currently about £37 up
23/10/2007 22:35:00
the closer i get to saturday, knowing i will be in pompey with a good 3 hours before kick off the more i want to go! is anyone else wanting to go to the west ham match but you dont have a ticket yet? if so i could maybe always meet up with someone... i hate sitting on my own you see!
23/10/2007 22:47:00
i got benji at first goalscorer last week 5/1 and a pompey win so made a few quid :-)
23/10/2007 22:48:00
Rug, spend your winnings on a ticket ! - I can't offer you a seat but if you decide to go and want a beer before the game I'll be in the Milton Arms from about 3:30 ish.. I could chat up the barmaid for ya .. she might wanna go ;)
24/10/2007 12:24:00
...that's 'wanna go'.. to the football, if you get my gist really wouldn't 'wanna go' believe me! :)
24/10/2007 12:26:00
i get your jist... on both counts and there was i thinking i could be in with the barmaid :-) im assuming tickets are still available? i keep saying i wont go but i know i want to and know i will regret it if i dont... yep, i could watch it in the pub but its not the same if i ordered it on setanta at my cousins it would still cost a tenner - so whats another 20 odd quid... if i do make it Chix and i can get to the milton i will take you up on the offer!
