'If It's Football, It's Vital'

3 pts at Wigan thank you very much!

Pompey will beat Wigan this weekend, in what is a match against a team we should be beating! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts completely agree with.

Of course Wigan will not be an easy match, but it is little wonder that so many people believe that we can win on the road for a third league match running. With all due respect to Wigan, it is teams like this that we need to be beating if we are really to push on this season and continue our progress forward.

How players have been affected by the international break could play a part in the outcome of this match, but providing most, if not all return fit and able enough to play another game, with confidence sky high at the moment you could not back against us winning again - and with 40 coaches making the trip we will not be short of support either!

88% believe we can and will win, we will soon find out of this confidence is misplaced but to be honest I really do not think it is.

What the poll asked - Can we make it a hat-trick of away league wins when we face Wigan this weekend?

How you voted - Yes - and we need to win these kind of matches 88%, No 8%, I'll take a point 4%

Current Poll - Tradition is something that many like to keep, whereas others like change and would like to move on - from the sailor bloke for example.

Frogmore who is conveniently enough the frog mascot of Pompey is something that winds up a lot of people but should he be put back in the pond and should the sailor bloke also be put out to sea never to return, that is what The Rabbi wants to know with this - 'should Pompey get rid of their mascot, Frogmore and that sailor bloke who stands by the tunnel?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

PLAY UP POMPEY!

in answer to how many players will have been affecte by the internatioal break: all of them. those that did not go away had a well earned rest, those that did, will (hopefully) have benefited from the experiance, be slightly more tired, but are young enough and have the fitness levels to play that many games in a week. (other than...maybe...sol). But remember, there will be more midweek games to come, particualy if we get into europe, and with the carling cup, so it is just something to live with.

I will be very disapointed if we do not get anything at Wigan, especially with the form that we are in.
Owenspompey
Yes please. It just makes the weekend a fantastic time.

i know i say this everytime we play a team that we 'should' be looking to beat, but with respect to wigan it is the wigans, the fulhams, boros and so on that we need to beat to get to where we want to be... im with you Owenspompey if we come back with nothing i will be disappointed, well probably more than disappointed tbh.
pompeyrug
Hate that stupid frog - quite like the sailor though . . .
Et_tu_Pompeii
another must win for us PUP

Completely agree Et-tu The Frog is meaningless and stupid and to be honest I wish he'd go plant his spawn elsewhere, but as I said on a previous thread the Pompey Sailor Bloke (does he have a name ?) is a traditional Pompey Icon and should remain so. Come to think of it when we move having a Frog as a mascot would be pretty senseless maybe we should have a furry gun or something to symbolise Gunwarf or the Victory or whatever - How about a furry expensive car park ! It'll be a a lot more relevant than a Frog ....... A Ram for Derby I can live with, A Tiger for Hull perhaps ... but a Frog? There's only one thing worse ... A Dinosaur for Arsenal .. I bet the same person thought them up !

As for three points at Wigan - It'll be tough but 'these are games we must win' ...... That said as long as we dont lose I'll be happy ..

The Frog comes from the clubs address - Frogmore Road. But having said that i don't like him much. Keep the sailor though he has history. Back in the 60's Barry Harris who now looks aftr the balls etc. on match days was the sailor. I remember the times I helped him get the suit on on coaches to away games.
eastneydave
Four away wins in all competitions on the bounce is always impressive. Get in there Pompey!
Lysimachus
Dave ... Tales of dressing sailors on coaches should be posted elsewhere surely !! :) .. but seems most of us agree sack the Frog keep the sailor
Chix
Was aware he came from 'Frogmore' but come on ... a bit tenuous innit .. why not Milton the Mink or Goldy the Goldsmith or Specky the geek ... who has ever seen a blue frog....
Chix
Looks like we are preety damn good at predicting these scorelines - We got it right again .... 2-0 to the blues (well blacks in fact) Play up Pompey... but don't mention the Rugby
