Pompey debate of the day (10/10/07)

On Tuesday The Quay ran a text competition asking what theme you would like to hear Pompey run out too, so today's hot topic of debate for the fellowship of Vital Pompey is inspired by that very question posed.

So what song would you like to hear Pompey come out to when they play at Fortress Fratton?

I don't want to hear any mention of Queen, fatboy Slim, Robbie Williams, James Brown, Amarillo, or Hey Baby. How about 'Hurry up Harry' by Sham 69? What was wrong with 'Portsmouth' by Mike Oldfield? One of the best bits of music to be played when we score should be the Guitar Riff of 'Seven Nation Army' by the White Stripes. Bruges have been celebrating goals to it for years in belgium. I'm not certain Barry White (although I am a fan of his music) is what we should be listening to. To retain our reputation in the premiership as 'good old fashioned fans in a good old fashioned ground'. it should be something rousing but fresh. 'Hate to say I told you so' by the Hives, or The Specials 'Enjoy Yourself' which is a great tune (Listen to it on Amazon kids).

Something rock style. Nothing girlie/wet/romantic crap. Something to stir the blood & soul like Jerusalem that worked during the ashes. A magnificent overture to wake the dead.

Come on lads, Simply the Best, by Tina Turner, because that is what we are, as we are Pompey.

No No No No No Tina Turner is hardly a step forward. Its as awful as Queen and all those other rock anthems. Come on people lets move forward. new Stadium, european football, new music.
