Davis wants to use his passport

Speaking to sky sports - who gave him the man of the match award - after Pompey's 2-0 win over Fulham Sean Davis set his sights on a European place with Pompey at the end of the season.

This is something that so many players had spoken about prior to the season, with many of them still targeting this as it goes on, but something that Davis hopes that we can achieve having just missed out on this last year: 'we missed out on Europe by goal difference last season and we would like to push on and get a European place, there would be a great atmosphere at Fratton Park'.

Seeing European football at Fortress Fratton would be fantastic and something that would fulfil most Pompey fans dreams.

Yep we still have a long, long way to go before we can achieve this but our stock is rising all the time so providing we keep improving and keep grinding out results even if we do not play particularly well - as we did against Fulham - then this season could be a magical one for us.

The 'pundits' are really starting to get behind us too though, maybe they do not always know what they are talking about but if they are backing us we must be doing something right. Alan Shearer even said on match of the day 2 last night that if any club could break into the top 4 he feels it could be us!

The way Sean Davis has responded to competition for places this season in marvellous, he has gone from possible fringe player to one of the first names on the sheet. Jamo said in the Sunday press that Davis has argued his case over the defending last Saturday by saying my defending was Ok to laughter in the changing rooms. The right atitude for a midfield player.

I think the only way he will lose his place at the moment is a suspension

I never was a Sean Davis fan, but i have to admit he is playing out of his skin at the moment, and is quite rightly keeping Pedro out of the team. He was a star on Sunday and dominated the midfield with Papa and Sulley, so much so the Fulham midfield had to be changed en masse by Dave Bassett oops sorry i mean Lawrie Sanchez
Owenspompey
actually Owens it is papa bouba diop that is keeping Pedro out of the team
russellm
I disagree russ i reckon that Diop and Muntari will always start and that Pedro and Sean are vying for one spot as are Niko and Matty. Harry has always picked the hard working defensive big lad, like Amdy Faye and Papa Diop is Harrys type of midfielder.

Competition is great for the team. With such a combat midfield, yellow cards will lead to suspensions & chances for others as will the ANC.

im not sure which one is keeping pedro out tbh, all i know is between them they are...
pompeyrug
Our yellow card count is not as bad as you might think ... 1 James 1 Lauren 1 Johnson 1 Traore 1 Herman 1 Muntari (excludes suspension already served) 1 Taylor 1 Distin 1 Kanu 1 Mendes 2 Papa Diop 4 Davis (but nothing in last four game) So Sean may br the first to hit a suspension but the way he is playing whoever relaces him when it comes is gonna have to play well to keep him at bay
