Linvoy Primus has been written off before, but each time he has come back - and with him now being 'available' again he will face this fight again, but this is a fight he is up for, but is also a fight - as he told the Pompey Site - that he is willing to be patient in to win: 'I'm available, but I don't expect to walk straight back in. It doesn't happen like that. Noe has been patient and is waiting in the wings too.
'Sol and Sylvain are very strong and impressive - I can imagine people saying similar things when they looked at me and Sol last year, particularly with the way we started last season.
'I know it's going to be a long season and there are going to be opportunities to play, and that's what I've got to wait for'.
As said he has faced a battle almost year in year out but his belief in his own ability and willingness to fight for a place has always served him well so this is something that he is used to.
To be honest the challenge he faces this season is his toughest ever, but Sol Campbell and/or Sylvain Distin will without doubt pick up injuries or suspensions along the way so he will get a chance again, so when he is back in he will be hard to get back out again - assuming Harry Redknapp plays fair, which for the benefit of the team and sentimental feelings aside I would hope he would.
Yep Primus faces his biggest challenge yet, but you would be foolish to write him off! I know I will not be doing this - but then again I never have.
