'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What a game!

'What a game', those were the words that plymouth graham, his mate Geoff - both top blokes I might add, if you ever get the chance to meet them take it - and my brother - of course, also a top bloke - kept saying on the way home.

Absolutely incredible, my first game of the season and I see quite probably the best match I have ever seen, Pompey or otherwise!

Pompey 7 Reading 4 what kind of scoreline is that, it just does not happen in the Premiership does it…

I am absolutely buzzing at the moment and that is with just the one beer - more to follow now though - and a full report will follow, but this might not be until tomorrow as I need to compose myself a little and probably watch the whole match again as it has been recorded on football first, having just watched us being the first match on Match of the Day.

What a game!

Well MotD actually showed our game first. This puts of my plans to have everyone at the BBC brutally murdered.
Lysimachus
well, they didnt exactly give the game justice did they? all they showed were the goals, the missed penaly, and johnsons miss - which was quite disopointing really...and they didnt make too many comments, other than that it was mad...which it was. next up, fulham - and they dont have a great defensive record at home...roll on the goals!
pompeycarpet
Let's face it, if a game with 11 goals can't take top billing, the BBC would get slaughtered, we'll just have to do it every week!
paultsmouth
...i feel sorry for fulham...but we are now sitting very nicley in fifth...which is ok, i gues ;-)
pompeycarpet
Yes! We had the entire credits to ourselves. Credits are always good. YEAAAAAAH.
Lysimachus
Dead right rug you have to compose yourself after an experience like that. MOTD watched in pub no sound everyone dancing around!! Videoed Sky watch tomorrow once or...........
eastneydave
what a game!
pompeyrug
i composed myself alittle - but have now done a report, i had to edit it down abit as it was laready 4 pages when i added it... ive got it recorded, so im sitting down with the family - well some of it, those that can make it again tomorrow to watch it again and again...
pompeyrug
yep motd made out game top game, but they had to didnt they - they never intended it to get top billing but what could they do - what a game i feel honoured to have been there!
pompeyrug
What a game, still can't believe what happened.
storagematt
it ws incredible wasnt it - sod the 'bad defending' this was a fantastic match, in which both sides gave it everything... to see distin flying down the left wing crossing for hermann to score shows just how open this match was...
pompeyrug
that was a truely ridiculas goal...that under any other circumstances, just wouldnt have happened...
pompeycarpet
Up to fifth we are on a roll now, lets hope we can produce this attacking form at Craven Cottage next week, they did well at the Bridge though didnt they, or are Chelsea just a poor team now !!
Owenspompey
they did well defensivly, all they have conceeded quite a few at home!

"whaddagame!!!!!!" what a day, it was great to make friends with Rug and his bro..we actually had 8 tkts for this game of which 7 people at one point or another said they would have one of the spare the 4 spare tks, for one reason or another couldnt or didnt take up that tkt so geoff and i had miss at least one beer at the new tkt office getting refunds..however these appeaered to be resold soon the some geezers next us.....ive had a few messages form ..shall we "Gutted" folks...well its Everton at home for us next predictions 15-6,,,,,23-0.....0-0
plymouth graham
Just watched Eveton on SS1 this PM they won but didn't look good, and that was only against Boro. It will be a good match but with our team at the mo they ain't going to be out muscled by anyone and at FP we are pretty unstoppable.... Bring it on! PUP

sorry, my last comment didnt make any sence...fulham were ok defencivly at chelsea, but at home they have looked poor. Match prediction: 10-0...or dont you think you can put 10 past a team in the premiesrship pompey4me?

What a time for my internet to have gone down. Back now, WEYHEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! What a day yesterday, as i said elsewhere in the forum, i feel privalidged to have been at the game with me wifey and kids!! Can just imagine in the future saying to them, do you remember the good old days when we played in a dump of a ground called Fratton Park, and we won 7-4??!! Would have loved to have seen Kamara on sky!!
pompey4me
plymouth graham, it was a great day out mate one of the best, if not the best ever in terms of the journey up and back let alone the game - which was the best ive ever seen i reckon... all of those from our party that couldnt have made it without valid reasons - which maybe some didnt have? - i must say i dont feel sorry for them, those that did have really good and fair reasons for pulling out - my bros sister for example who was taken ill over night - im gutted for, but daddy can at least tell his son when he is older 'what a game' and i was there...
pompeyrug
oh and bring on the everton match i cannot wait for that one to get here so we can go again - 3pts is all im looking for from that match at the moment, another 11 goal thriller would be a bonus :)
pompeyrug
Rug I doubt you will ever see an 11 goal game again. In nearly 50 years 9 was the most - not at 5-5 at Oxford. That is the problem first timers and I have heard of a few will expect it every week.
eastneydave
ive been trying to think back to the most goals ive seen and i think it was the fa cup match with leeds when we lost 5-1 - i think it was - at fratton in the lat 90's, after going ahead through luke nightingale... ive seen some 4-2's but nothing more than 6 goals i dont think? we said on the way home that we would prob never see another game with this many goals again ever, with any sides involved be it on tv or in the crowd... as i say 3pts against everton is all i want - anything else will be a bonus.
