When Saturday comes, not soon enough

When Saturday comes, not soon enough

Saturday will mark a momentous occasion for me personally, the match with Reading - if you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this match do it here - will be my first game of the season, well in terms of in the stadium watching live - and I cannot wait!

As I moved away from my lovely Leigh Park surroundings when I was a nipper to my current South West residence, with the costs of football as it is now, not to mention the travel expenses on top - which are even greater if you cannot drive, like myself - it makes it even more difficult to get to that many games.

However it has been arranged by the tireless efforts of plymouth graham for myself, a couple of his mates, my brother and will be sister-in-law - clearly himself too - to go to Fortress Fratton tomorrow. After a few obstacles along the way, which all being well are okay now, we are virtually good to go.

It is a long old journey on the train but when you do not get that many opportunities to watch the blues you make that sacrifice and take them anyway you can, well I know I do, Either way this train journey is something I will have to get used to again as no matter what the costs are I am getting my season ticket back again next season after too many years without it.

Listening to the games on pfcTV, watching them on sky sports or various other means I might go about are all well and good but you cannot beat that match day travel feeling, preparing for the match and the in person atmosphere that Fortress Fratton gives you, which contrary to what anyone might tell you is the best atmosphere around, coming from the best fans in the world!

Other than pre season, my last in person match was probably the most frustrating match that I have ever watched, it was the 1-1 draw with Fulham from last season, the one when Andrew 'the mercenary' Cole got us a point when we could and should have won by a mile. I can see us winning well tomorrow as we will get plenty of chances, I just hope that these chances are not squandered like they were in that match.

Either way we will be there, pre match Monster Mick Burger and all.

Hope that you have a great day, i know the feeling about the journey we are going down and will be on the road about 6 in the morning ourselves. It is worth it when they play well and we win, bit it is a bloody long way back when we were crap, having to listen to 606 or Terry bloody Christian telling us how great United are, mind you they were bloody poor on Wednesday werent they, you will never win anything with kids will you!! See you all at the game, Play Up Pompey

obviously when we win and play well it is all the more enjoyable but i love the whole day out, i really do... ive rarely come away from a game thinking 'god that was ***** why did i bother', even if it has not really been that good a game, as they almost always are if you are there arent they - the day, the atmosphere, the whole package makes it fantastic everytime for me...
