Kranjcar confident of 3 points

Kranjcar confident of 3 points

Niko Kranjcar believes that Pompey's away days blues will end this weekend at Blackburn, as he has told the Pompey Site that Pompey have belief that they can end the baron run away from Fortress Fratton.

Kranjcar is certainly confident that things will change: 'one of the most important things in football is to have belief in yourself and then put in the effort to reward that belief.

'We know our away form hasn't been great, but we believe that we can turn it around.

'We believe that we can win this weekend - now we just have to go out there and do it.

'We'll give Blackburn a good game and at the end of it hopefully we'll come away the better team and have the point to show for it'.

Boxing Day 2006 was the last time Pompey won away, pushing on for 9 months again now - which is a shockingly long time!

I have made it perfectly clear that I fear for our chances in this match with Blackburn - if you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this match do it here - so I would settle for a point, but if the players can all share Kranjcar's belief, which they should really as we are awesome at home, then why not - lets do it.

I am pretty sure that Harry Redknapp will go for a 5 man midfield, which although I would rather see an orthodox 4-4-2, if he played a 4-5-1 - which I hate - so long as Kranjcar or Pedro Mendes came back in I would be okay-ish.

Also, if he went for the 4-5-1 I would love Benjani or David Nugent to be used as the lone striker - unlikely I know, as we all know it will be Kanu as usual! - and Kranjcar - probably just getting in ahead of Mendes for this game - in the middle of midfield in a free role, an almost supporting role in place of Sean Davis, with Papa Bouba Diop and Sulley Muntari either side and Matty Taylor on the left, John Utaka on the right I would be happy.

The above is almost certainly not going to happen as it will be the usual suspects, but we need some creativity in midfield and some movement up front and Kanu will not offer this, I would much prefer he started on the bench, coming on to turn the match if needed. A super sub was the role I expected him to play this season but Redknapp just will not leave him out.

good positive talk that needs good positive action, defence wiill need to be on form to stop McCarthy and co but given our previous dreadfull [performances at Ewood 3 points from this game would be a real fillip for the team and provide that bounce that seems to have been missing

Agree with Russ, last season it was embarrassing up there. Talk is cheap if not backed up with real action.

I wouldn't place too much emphasis on last year's match - We've been a different team so far this season - McCarthy and MGP have been poor so far, and unless there is a dramatic upturn in form, expect the danger to come from elsewhere. We've looked good in the league, but last nights pathetic attempt shows how poor we actually can be. RSC, Bentley and Dunn are the ones to watch for the moment, but in all honesty the match could go either way depending on which team turns up.

yep, it is about bloody time we got our act together and started doing what we do at fortress fratton away from it too! with the performance blackburn put in last night i am sure mark hughes will be looking for a response, but with ryan nelsen out i am more upbeat that i was...

Yes I was surprised that Rovers lost last night after a 15 game unbeaten run. How will they respond on Sunday is the question? I am certain that Mark Hughes will not stand for a repeat. But as Krunchie says we have to turn the away form round soon.

I'm sure you'll turn it around. I just hope (for our sake) that last night was a blip and not a downturn completely. I would imagine we'll have a lot of hard-of-hearing players after the ear bashing they had, and hopefully they'll be playing to keep the shirt this weekend. You lot are in a false position at the moment - Your initial fixtures were just absolutely laughable, anyone would think the fixture list was written by a saint (not the good kind) We're not the best side to have to face to get a run going, but i don't think it'll be long before you're up in the top half again.

sadly, i think that we are mentally a very week side (as i have sead somewhere else...). We can put in a good performance one week, and the next, thinking we are invincible (which we are...on form...), and then put in an awful performance the following week. At home, when the crowd is behind the team, we are confident on the ball, away from hme, we cant string 2 passes together. Sadly, Blackburn will not be a confidence boasting game. They finished below us last season (which implies they could be easy...wrong, but its what it looks like), and we have just played well against the top 4. Not only that, But Blackburns...slightly aggresive nature...works well against the sides that play better football (e.g. us), and so we are doubly in a bad situation. If i wasnt so optimistic, i would be predicting a 3-0 loss for us...as it is, im only saying 2-1...
