Pompey to edge out scousers 2-1

Pompey will beat Liverpool 2-1! Not my vote, yours - although these findings from Aamir's poll are thoughts that I partly share, in as much as I am going for a Pompey win, but I have my money on a 3-1 Pompey triumph.

Maybe my heart is ruling my head, as Liverpool are looking a tasty proposition this season - and could well mount a genuine title challenge - but I believe that Pompey can beat them today.

I would take a 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 or whatever, so long as we can win.

We need to make up for the showing at Arsenal the other week, as if we were not very forgiving that time the natives will be baying for blood if we do not at least put in a decent showing at the fortress that could, if nothing else make us proud.

Realistically if Liverpool want to win the title this season they need to come to places like Fratton and win, but a defeat will not mean that they cannot still pull it off.

The time for predictions, hopes, dreams and what have you is almost at an end, the real stuff, Pompey back in action, is just hours away - let us hope the boys can do us proud though!

What the poll asked - What do you think the score will be against us (Liverpool)?

How you voted - 2-1 Pompey 28%, 2-0 Liverpool 24%, 2-1 Liverpool 12%, 1-1 9%, 1-0 Pompey 8%, 2-0 Pompey 5%, 2-2 5%, Other 5%, 3-2 Liverpool 2%, 1-0 Liverpool 1%, 0-0 1%, 3-3 0%, 3-2 Pompey 0%

Current Poll - It is always good to find out a little more about the fellowship on this site, so for us to try and get further insight it would be good to know what sort of percentage of games we would hope to make.

Clearly Vital Pompey has members from all around the country and the world, so it is not as easy for some to get to games as it is others. Even those of us that live in this country can have work or other commitments and financial constraints that reduce the amount of games we view, but how many games would we hope to get to this season, this is what I want to know with this - 'how many Pompey games do the Vital Pompey members hope to attend in 2007/08?' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

Id settle for 2-1 to Pompey right now.... We were right with the Utaka poll hope we are right with this one !!

I think 2-1 will be right, but my crystall ball has it the other way. Should the mighty Pompey overcome the Black Cat (not Sunderland) the 13th a couple of days ago, and the premonitions, I will be more than welcome to running down my backyard starkers waving my underpants above my head. In the event that we lose the neighbours may well feel fortunate not to have seen such a grotesc sight. Play Up Pompey - to hell with my undies !!

well i have placed my money on 2-1 and all being well i will make the game, but reading a mat taylor article on the net maybe i have been a bit optimistic and perjhapse a draw would have been the wise move

oooohhhhhh.....ive gone 1-0 kanu early in first half shut up shop.nuge misses golden chance near the end, joins saints on loan on monday
plymouth graham
nuge would never miss a golden chance. He'll silence his doubters with a hatrick - including an overhead kick, a volley from outside the penalty area, and a sublime piece of skill taking the ball past every man in the team, before slotting it in. Thats what MY tea leaves told me. oh, and did i mention torres's 3 own goals, and a matty taylor wonder strike, and utaka netting twice too? and jamo might nick one at the final whistle....

Let's hope so, we will have to give them some stick & unbalance their pretty play to get something. No doubt Sulley & Papa will be there guns blazing, until the ref starts showing his cards. Still think we will do well to get a draw.

Good draw lads, we bounce back after the rubbish in North London. Character and Pride

Oh so nearly...

i had believe all week we would win, in fact for several weeks... if we could bloody hit the target we would have and if kanu wasnt taking bloody penalties too we would have... frustrated, as we should have won, yep i would have taken a point but we should have won...
