'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Good day, but roll on Saturday

Despite yet another good day on Wednesday I am glad that we have moved another day closer to the weekend and a return to action of Pompey - not that I have been wishing my life away waiting for this mind.

For the first time in god only knows how long I have enjoyed not one, but two fine England performances, with two fantastic results in less than a week, which has made the fact that Pompey have not played for a while more bearable.

Yep, I really enjoyed England beating Russia, but what made the day even more enjoyable for me was the fact that the French got beaten by the Scots - I do like the Scots to be honest, but the mother or my first nephew is a Scot, so as much for her and her family I want them to win even more now - and the Aussies got beaten by Zimbabwe in the Twenty20 cricket world cup, oh how I enjoyed that!

I was delighted with the birth of my first nephew and thoroughly enjoyed the two England games, the England win over India in the one-day cricket, Scotland doing the French, the Aussie defeat in the Twenty20 world cup as well as the other highlights from the past week or so but I cannot wait for Saturday to come round when we get back to action.

Liverpool will be a challenge, but this is a challenge that I feel we can rise to. Sorry to bang on about this again, but If you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this match do it here.

Yes and these long waits between home games will beset us all year - one in October, one in November and FOUR in December. Nicely spread out.

Scotland were brilliant and deserve to qualify for the performances they have put in. England i thought played well, but we have a big test in Russia, and a bigger game against Croatia at Wembley, but we cant ask for any more than that. I dont mind games being away from home as i travel from the North West antway, but i love the atmosphere at Fratton.

yep the scots were brilliant from the limited highlights that i saw - good luck to them for the rest of their campaign... the international breaks are so frustrating, i can accept the competitive games more but the friendlies are such a bloody waste as spineless steve does not really try anything different in these does he!
pompeyrug
Did you enjoy Australia losing at home to Argentina in the football match friendly in Melbourne (0-1) . To be honest the Argies were far more skilful and deserved their win.
pompeygray
i didnt even know the aussies were playing the argies in football tbh - i know i love, as i have said, the aussies beaten by zimbabwe in the twenty20! altho it looks like they might do us too today...

I echo your sentiments mate - Come on Chels!

dear all i bring with me glad tidings back from france, nay, not that they cant seem to win anything at the moment. better indeed... the news that the fiend known by me as agent willy the crim mckay is under investigation by the french tax authorities and that hey may be seeking his extradition subject to discussions with uk police forces
russellm
Good news, however, this is the French and I would not rely on them. Thought the England performance was great this week, just shows what Spineless can do when the decision is taken away from him and he has a few choices to make. Harsh maybe?

I sort of want the jocks to qualify, but then again when do they ever will England on? No, sod 'em, let them spend a little while longer in the wilderness
paultsmouth
paultsmouth i agree... why is it they cant stand us but on the whole most englishmen will cheer them on.... must be an inferiority complex or something. Although I must admit it was a crackin goal and a crackin' result ..... see here I go again !
Chix
good points fellas we always back the jocks but they cant stick us... i will not change this backing tho, even more so now as like i say i have scots in the family now! hopefully when my nephew is signed up by pompey he can play for england, but we can fall back on the scots and do a quashie if needed...
