Pompey get Burnley away, that'll do!

Pompey have drawn Championship side Burnley away in the third round of the league cup.

This draw will please many fans, as a poll ran earlier in the week pointed heavily in favour of a Championship, or lower standard side preferred because it was believed that this would aid in our quest for progression in the tournament that many, myself included think we could win.

I am sure that the club are pleased with an away draw too, as my thinking is with the current ticketing problems at Fratton an away draw would have been favoured.

Burnley will not be a push over, but even with a 'second string side' we should be able to go to Turf Moor and get the done.

We just have to make sure we do not let Djimi Traore try any off the line back heelers, as last time he tried that for Liverpool it went horribly wrong and they got dumped out!

sorry, i did notice that and meant to reply but forget in my rage... i have been a part of this site for some 12-18 months i think, but only took over as editor about 3 months ago, and tbh i think that the response - 79 comments i think - is the best ever, without doubt the best ever on an article in such a short time...

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
