Bring on the Arsenal

Bring on the Arsenal

No matter what I do, I cannot seem to shake that flat feeling that I am feeling today, we do not even have a match to look forward to today, as we have to wait until tomorrow to face Arsenal - if you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this match do it here.

Scratching around looking for something to do I have listened to Lauren and Joe Jordan on their views on Arsenal this weekend, as well as watching the reserve highlights - worryingly Linvoy Primus looked to pull up after Chelsea's second goal - I have also listened Papa Bouba Diop and Glen Johnson and what they have had to say about their moves, all on this on pfcTV.

Diop seemed more interested than Johnson, but as positive as I try to think I cannot understand how a right back and a defensive midfielder are going to benefit us, I just cannot get past this.

Although when I look at the bigger picture, over the course of the 3 months of the transfer window and not just the bitterly disappointing 1 day on Firday far more quality has arrived than has left, so overall we cannot be unhappy, it would be crazy to be unhappy!

With no match I have little to look forward to today, I am just wallowing in my own self-pity, as I say scratching around for something to do. There is not even any football on the box - unless I pay for it - and no one else is around today, they are all out doing this and that but at least I have a bottle of Vodka with my name on it calling me, but then I will probably be wallowing in my own self-pity again tomorrow with a hangover!

Yesterday was quite a day, it was very productive Vital Pompey wise with plenty of interest from you fellas out there, which was really good, lets keep this kind of level of interest up.

After digressing I must get back to my point, bring on the Arsenal…

Matty Taylor, Lauren, Hermann Hreidarsson and to a degree Harry Redknapp have targeted Arsenal as a match that they really want something from, with most thinking we can get something - which we can I reckon.

Last season we should have beaten Arsenal, we went 2-0 up and stayed that way with just over 30 minutes to go, but in the end hung on for a 2-2 draw. But with us a year wiser and overall - with the players that have come in during the summer transfer window - a year better we should be going to Arsenal looking to win.

After a week of frustration at not getting at least the point we deserved against Chelsea last weekend - as well as frustration at the past 24-48 hours with what has gone on transfer wise - we need to match that level of performance against Arsenal tomorrow and hopefully at least put in a great performance, which can ideally bring us 3 points to compensate what has gone on.

Hopefully we won`t gift you 2 goals and make it hard for ourselves again. Should be a great game between us, and your right its a long wait till Sunday.

We are also a year wiser as you say, but Arsenal should be beating teams like Portsmouth quite comfortable, especially at home.

that is what is wrong with this game, 'clubs like arsenal' thinking they 'should' be beating 'teams like pompey' comfortably...

that said i prob say similar things about pompey and 'clubs like derby', so its swings and roundabouts really i suppose...

Exactly, as much as Pompey have improved and are a good team, Arsenal has improved in those areas that needed to be fixed. It will be difficult for Pompey to go into a lead at the Grove again. But I see a really good match up between the 2 sides.

Go and give it a go Harry, Arsenal expect to beat us do they, good time to shove it up them then isnt it? 4-4-2 Harry and get at them, they had a fight there last year and they will have another hopefully

Arsenal should be beating all teams at home, Pompey no exception. But we all know we'll make it difficult for ourselves don't we.

pompeyrug, the reason why we 'should' be beating pompey is coz the game is at home for Arsenal, and if we are realistically to challenge for the title, then we ought to be winning this game.

If we let them play they will hurt us. Have a go, unsettle them & maybe we can get something.

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
